NP  Fates Warning:  FWX  (on repeat)

Their tenth and latest studio album, from 2004, also a great album  *horns*

Heavier and rawer. Ray joined the lyrics writing process, and he wrote some fine texts.

And Mark Zonder does some fabulous stuff on his drums.

It struck me how close this album is to Anathema, so I'm sure that A-fans will like it  ;)

Hm, Iggy, that's a bit harder to say ... hm ...  ;D

I'd say the older post-growl stuff of Anathema, as FWX is a very dark and brooding album, particularly at the end, but with a tremendous intensity - that grips me strongly iac. (Now Paxi, don't you start)  :D

All four guys are just so amazing musicians  8)

After all, Anathema have gradually brought a bit more light into their darkness, particularly with Lee's angelic presence  :-*

Iggy, you're a profound guy (I expect all Yes fans to be btw), so: You just have to get FWX !  ;) :D

Not sure really. It is the same with Dragonforce I'm not really sure why I like them.

Although Dragonforce are on a downward trend imo the 3rd CD wasn't as good as the first 2 and the latest one was less good than the 3rd one :(.

I found the same with Edguys latest as well.

I can't listen to that stuff anymore. I get bored, I find it all clichés  :-\

I ended up givin my three DF-albums away, as well as my Gathering album (if_then_else).

I find Angra and SyX much much more exciting.

NP  Jeff Buckley:  My Sweetheart The Drunk

Extraordinary, fascinating, esoteric  *horns*

This double-cd was released after Jeff's death and long deliberations. The guys were on their way to the studio in NYC when Jeff drowned. They had material in differing degrees of completeness. Jeff's estate was bequeathed to his mother, Mary Guibert, and she painstakingly put together this masterpiece from bits and pieces. All credit to her  8)

The music on the first cd sounds mainly as good as one could expect it on a completed album. On the second cd, there are some songs that are more interesting than enjoyable, like a very raw cover of Genesis' Back in N.Y.C.

Mary Guibert also put together a cd with live recordings from Jeff's concerts at various venues all over the world, Mystery White Boy. Wonderful too  :)

Guys, if you wanna experience one of the greatest rock genii  ;)

Despite my somewhat enthusiastic gig-going schedule years ago, I never did get around to seeing Rory play live - not sure why.  But what an awesome blues performer!  Time to run upstairs and get some more CDs to rip, methinks 8)
