NP  Russell Allen:  Atomic Soul

Nice bluesy music, but nothing near the genius of SyX.

Russ must have had a personal reason to make this album  ???

I hope they all have personal reasons to make albums. It is better that way! ;)

The Butterfly Man

Hi guys, it's been a while! I spend a nice long weekend with my bandmates (+ girlfriends) in a house we rented near the German border. It was really great! We filled 3 days with (acoustic) jamming, listening to music, playing games and getting slightly drunk (not me, obviously! ;)). Anyway, the following albums were on heavy rotation last weekend:

Metallica - Death Magnetic
Muse - Origin Of Symmetry

NP: Staind - The Illusion Of Progress

Good album. I'm looking forward to their concert next Sunday! :)

Paxi, what I mean is that I was rather disappointed with that album. Russ is one of my top fave singers, and SyX a terrific band, so I had expected something truly magic from him, I mean, as his first solo album after several years in a top league band.

If I hadnt known it was Russ' album, I would have thought/said "Hey, that's nice music", but nothing like "Wow, what's that ?" See what I mean ?

Now, if Russ has followed a long line of blues to get to where he is now - absolute top - then it would all make sense to me, and I would listen to his album with different expectations. I don't know yet, but that's why I said what I did.

Ah, I get it. :)
Well, before Symphony X, Russell Allen wasn't familiar with Metal. He sang in Blues kinda bands if I don't mistake. Or indeed Soul... :P ;D

You should REALLY try out Frost*. Experiments In Mass Appeal has the same vocalist as Darwin's Radio (Declan Burke) and he plays some acoustic guitar too. But of course, the big guitar parts are left for John Mitchell. Who else. ;D
Besides, EIMA is much heavier than Darwin's Radio, so I don't get it why you don't get it. ;) ;D

I will, Paxi. I'm not impressed by Milliontown, and I never got why so many experienced people were ravin bout it, but yes, since so many of you guys are crazy bout EIMA, I'l just have to take'm seriously  ;)

But there's other stuff that's more "top'o'the pile" for me at the moment !

And meanwhile you could get a bit into Euphoria Morning. Great stuff  *horns*

John, Frost* are one of my fave groups, I'm crazy bout Milliontown, and of course I have to have EIMA. In fact, I'm just on my way to the CD-store to buy it ....

Sounds quaint today.

It's strange that I lived thru the 60's and 70's and listened to Floyd, Genesis, and Yes, but VDGG and Gentle Giant evaded me.

Maybe the first three were more enjoyable  ???

Iac they are today imo  :)

Another band run by Wojtek Szadkowski (Collage, Satellite, Peter Pan).
It sounds very much like Satellite.
There's something that binds all these bands together. I think it's got to do with the folk music there.
Anyway, I like it.
