Q are one of my fave groups. They never stand still, they always have sumthin new up their sleeves.

With Q, the lyrics are very central, and the music sorta weaves around'm.

They're just finishing a new album, American Soldier, planned for release soon.

Wiki: Speaking about the inspiration for the album, Tate said:

"Queensrÿche has always had incredible support from members of the Armed Services," says Tate. "It seems like after every show, I'd end up speaking with a fan that was or had been involved with the military. The more and more I began to hear their accounts and feelings, the more I really felt a conviction to tell their story. Over the last two years, I've conducted dozens of one-on-one interviews with veterans of many different American wars. I listened to their amazing and moving recounts and did my best to examine war through their eyes."

Guys, this stuff rocks  *horns*

There's also a fine cover of Welcome To The Machine there. (Remember where that song comes from?)

Anyone else here into Q ?

Once, in a far distant past i was. But that was before albums like Promised Land, which wasn't all that bad but nevertheless quite below their skills, Hear In The Now whatever and such.
Actually one of the albums that was released in that period is Q2K and that album was quite a good one.

But with Queensrÿche i must confess that i'm stuck with albums like The Warning, Rage For Order, Operation: Mindcrime (act I mind you) and the aforementioned Q2K.
Those were the days.  :-\

NP> Andromeda - The Immunity Zone

Track: [02] Slaves Of The Plethora Season

A few years ago I was playing Queensrÿche's "Tribe" a lot. It was quite nice, great melodies and such, but later on I got bored with it.
I'll try it again some day. I put them on my list of bands I need to discover a bit more.

NP: OSI - Free

Why is this so good? ;D

What's it like, Måd ?

I listened a lot to A a couple of years ago. I enjoyed their first Extension very much. There was a lot of youthful energy in it. I also liked the first singer Lawrence Mackrory better, altho he was mixed rather in the back on Extension. The following albums didnt quite grip me. But no doubt, Johan Reinholdz is a great guitarist.

I can't remember having listened to an album sooo many times pretty much successively; I'm simply stuck with this one for the time.

Guys, if you want to listen to class progmetal, then get this one - addictive as hell  *horns*

Steve, you're currently listening to some stuff that I like a lot too, e.g. Rush & Sieges Even  *horns*

I remember that my bro listened a lot to Hawkwind some 35 years ago. I myself found'm a bit too, hm, experimental ?

What do you like about'm, and what can you recommend ?  We have three of their albums in the family collection of LP's (from my bro); I could try out some of that .....

Lunatic Soul - S/T

Track: [02] The New Beginning

Totally different than what you might expect from Riverside, Lunatic Soul is Marius Duda's little baby  ;), but nevertheless quite enjoyable.
Though i must add that it took me a while to get used to it. Keep it simple: Dim the lights, have a beer, be sure you're alone in the room, sit back and relax.  8)

NP  Andromeda:  Chimera

Inspired by Måd  :)

Good, but not top-league to my mind.

And you gotta skip the first track, which is rather dull; don't understand why they placed it there  ::)

I get the feeling that Johan Reinholdz can do much better - and you hear his genius here and there - but somehow he wants to stick around with this gang  ???

I consider the first Extension, which was composed and lyrics written entirely by Johan, as better than anything Andromeda has done since, altho I havent yet heard The Immunity Zone. Maybe Måd can fill us in on that one.

NP  Genesis:  ...And Then There Were Three...  (on repeat)   *horns*

I figured that it was about time that I got properly into Genesis  ;D

They sure merit it  8)

I have all studio albums from Foxtrot to Invisible Touch + Seconds Out, so that should encompass their most brilliant moments - or ?  ;)

I'v also listened quite a bit to albums with Steve Hackett, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins, and Mike Rutherford outside of Genesis. I find that only Steve's stuff is really interesting, except for a few nice songs by the others. I hope soon to get some of Tony Banks' stuff outside of Genesis, as he seems to me to be the "genius" of Genesis, iac after Peter left.

Any opinions on this ?

Nicky.

I used to listen to Phil Collins' solo albums a lot, but that was years ago. Now I'm bored with that stuff. Peter Gabriel's solo stuff doesn't do anything to me either :-\. Don't know the other solo projects.

NP: Opeth - Deliverance

This has to be one of the best songs Opeth ever recorded. It is just brutal and in your face from the start. Then after 9 minutes Mikael starts singing 'clean' and shortly after that Opeth's most amazing riff to date comes in and I'm in progressive heaven...

"Deliverance...thrown back at me. Deliverance...laughing at me."

Absolutely great stuff! *horns*
