Yeah, Tom, I'm quite sure you'l like'm.

The group that to my mind comes closest to Agalloch is Porcupine Tree, so any fan of PT should check out Agalloch.

I consider myself a huuuuuuuuge PT-fan so after reading your post I immediately went to Agalloch's MySpace to listen to some songs. And I can see where you come from, musicwise the're indeed quite close to PT. I think the music is really great. Not yet convinced by the vocals though...but I'm gonna try and work on it.

Bupie

Scorpions - Hot & Slow

Usually I try to avoid compilations but this one is interesting since it regroups slow and mid tempo songs from Scorpions' early period, I mean the mid-70's !

There is a strong psychedelic/prog feeling to most of the songs with gorgeous guitar solos and it should appeal to most 70's prog giants fans and to fans of melodic prog metal as well. Of course, the studio albums of this period are also strongly recommended and probably a better option than a compilation.

Teunis

Pendragon - Pure
Shadowland - Through The Looking Glass
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Teunis

Simon Phillips - Symbiosis
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'
-------------------------------------------------------
Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Believe - Yesterday Is A Friend
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

The only way you can solve that problem, Tom, is by takin the next flight to Portland and talkin with Haughm bout it. Tell'im you know me.

;D

Or:  Read further in Chimp's review:

"Haughm's voice is one of the eeriest I've ever heard, the vocals split between harrowing rasps and gritty, forlorn whispers. Although his voice was difficult to adjust to (it's very...different), I love it now."

As for myself, I'v heard so much growl/shout/screamo by now that nothin can rattle me - except the day I get to hear Bluey's voice  :o ;D

... and because of you guys rambling about Queen I was inspired to dig it out again. Still like it! :)

Anything else you like by Queen, Tom ?

Else I can recom their third album Sheer Heart Attack. Great 70's rock as only May & Co. could do it. You'l be surprised. Would'v given me a heart attack if I'd heard it at my present age then  *horns*  :o ;D

I was listening to Milliontown this morning. My dad really liked some parts!
But I think he prefers Marillion's latest. ;)

By the way, Experiments In Mass Appeal should be shipped by now. I wonder when it will be found on my doormat...

Haven't followed them closely enough, really. Got a bit too hard and mean for me a while there, but I'm not completely out. The solo album was awesome!
