Scar Symmetry:  Holographic Universe   *horns*

Swedish band, related to Circus Maximus, Seventh Wonder, and Mercenary, and just as good.

Tom, definitely something for you   :)

Nicky.

Wow, thanks Nicky, I checked out their MySpace and really enjoyed what I heard! Must buy Holographic Universe asap!

You're welcome, Tom. And get Mercenary's Architect Of Lies whilst you're at it. It's up there too, a bit heavier than the others, but just as melodic  *horns*

At this point all of these four bands seem equally great to me  :)

NP  Scar Symmetry:  Holographic Universe  (on repeat)   *horns*

NP: Dream Theater - Train Of Thought

It's been a while since I played this album, I almost forgot how good it is! I was insipred to listen to it again when I was watching Chaos In Motion last night. Suddenly a bit of 'In The Name Of God' came by in 'Schmedley Wilcox' and I was like  :o *horns*.

Yes, an awesome piece of work.  Some days it's my fave DT album, but they've done so much top-drawer stuff that my fave album is normally the one I'm playing at the time. :-[

NP: Nothing, as I'm in the middle of a mammoth reripping-at-a-higher-bitrate session.  But earlier I was listening to Marillion - Script for a Jester's Tear. 8)

Yes, it sure is mindblowing. Now that my preferences have become heavier, TOT has become one of my fave DT´s.

I'd say, Tom, that if one really goes for TOT, then one is ready for Nevermore. They're even heavier and darker than TOT, and it sure aint music for women and children (altho there are some tomboys on the Neverboard, and some metalheads in their twenties), but man, these are guys who really cut the metal these days  *horns*

I'd add that the difference between these groups is that DT are more varied (partly due to the keyboards), NM more daring (progressive?, and Warrel a more exciting singer), but imm there's no doubt that these are the two groups that rule metalworld in these times   *horns* *horns* *horns*

Just a discreet opinion, guys  :-[  ;D

NP  Nevermore: This Godless Endeavor  (title song)

As I wrote earlier, the ultimate metal piece (more than any other) - and I still think so  *horns*   (and certainly not music for women and children, Blueys excepted (compliment in return))  *horns* ;D

Just finished: Beardfish - Sleeping in Traffic, Part Two.  Still one of my (many) best albums of 2008 *horns*
Now playing: Phil Manzanera - K-Scope.  I've loved this album ever since I got a cheap vinyl version in the HMV sale some decades ago.

You know what actually just happened a couple of hours ago? I went to get a drink at my friend's house. He likes progmetal as well (we always go to DT-gigs together), but is more into even heavier music. Well, when I got there he said: "Hey, you should listen to this, it's really good." The next thing I know is that I'm listening to 'This Godless Endeavor' blasting out of his speakers and you know what? I think I really like it! Funny coincidense, huh? :)

By the way: What do you mean when you're talking about tomboys??? ;)
