:D :D :D :D :D

I've been watching Porcupine Tree's Arriving Somewhere... and man, it's as good as I remember. Even better.
I think I'm in love with the drummer.

I mean his drumming...

Pendragon - Pure.

Perhaps I shouldn't go straight into 'awsome album' mode after only one listen, but it's certainly one with immediate appeal.  Grabs you by the b*lls and swings you round the room.  Gosh ;D *horns*

Yes, great drummer - mesmerising.  I was a great fan of the previous occupant of the PT drum stool, too, and wasn't best pleased when he left.  However, after a period of adjustment, my fears proved to be completely unfounded.  I also love Colin Edwin's bass playing.  In fact I love everything about PT.

Well, everything apart from the 'dragged across a gravel path' picture quality that plagues Arriving Somewhere....  Still, now I'm used to it I tend to overlook it as the performance is so good, but I much prefer the other footage on the DVD.

Yes, and on stage you can see that Colin really is enjoying the music. I love that.

Well, that's part of the package I guess. I like it very much actually. It gives it the right feel. Especially in the heavy parts where the screen goes from black-white to full colour and shaking and breaking. Fantastic. Music IS art. And a lot more than that too.

I guess that's the thing with 'art' - not everyone responds to it in the same way.  Personally I like the band's performance/show to be the art part, and the concert DVD to be a pretty straight documentary of how it was, but that's just me.  I grew up in the 70s, living through some of the most dreadful camera work and cheesey video effects known to mankind, courtesy of the BBC's 'Top of the Pops' TV show.  It left scars that will never heal. ;)

NP: Pendragon - Pure.  This really is a band on fire - highly recommended *horns*

OK, it's probably not Metallica's best, but I'm in the right mood after Death Magnetic.  I'm growing to love the latter, in spite of the below par sound quality.

Money - Fist Investment *horns* *horns* *horns*

A personal fave from the late 70s/early 80s, Money often featured on the late Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show.  It's only since getting the album on CD that I've noticed how some tracks (especially on side 2) had a hint of early Queen 8)
