Seems I'm a man of a thousand faces.  You'd think I could find a decent one amongst them, but no... ;)

Storming tune, particularly fine video to go with it, too!  :P

Marillion - Happiness is the Road, Vol 2  *horns*

The 'official downloads' have certainly got me hooked.  I'm looking forward to the real thing immensely - one of the biggest releases of the year for little old me. 8)

Metallica - Death Magnetic.

I didn't comment on this before as having chucked it in the 'unlistenable' pile I wanted to dig it out and re-check before heaping scorn upon it.  If you've not noticed, I don't generally come on here to slag artists off.  However, a new day doesn't bring any new insights - I'd agree 100% with all those in headbanger land who're saying 'great music but exceptionally poor sound quality'. :(

Not the worst sounding CD I own, but certainly a contender.  Of course, we all have our own ideas about what is and isn't acceptable, and I wouldn't pick a fight with anyone who thinks DM is fine.  But I suspect this release is sufficiently iffy that it's inevitably going to upset a relatively large-ish number of people - purely a statistical thing.

To me it's unlistenable on an expensive hi-fi, unlistenable on a medium price one and unlistenable on a cheap one.  It's positively painful on an iPod or other nailed-to-my-head arrangement, but tolerable on the naff speakers on my PC that sound like they've got a rug thrown over them.

Cracking tunes, though, their strongest for a long time IMHO.  Put me down for a copy if they ever do a decent remaster!  *horns*

Van Halen - 5150.

Not sure why I picked this one, except that it's showing as never played since I ripped it.  I'm more of a Van Halen than Van Hagar man, and always rated 5150 as my least favourite.  But b*gg*r me if it doesn't sound OK tonight!  Not brilliant, but not bad.

Perhaps pretty much anything sounds good after Death Magnetic?  :P

You mentioned Remixomatosis before.
Is it that good? It's only remixes by fans of an otherwise excellent album.

NP Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet

I didn't think I would enjoy a Porcupine Tree album so much one day. It's just great from start to finish  *horns* Is Nil Recurring as good ?

Very much to taste.  To me it's interesting but not essential.  With the official HITR download having saved me waiting for my deluxe edition of the new album to turn up, I've been in a bit of a Marillion frenzy and filling in some gaps in the collection.  So, with my completist hat on, it's a worthwhile buy - but I doubt if it'll be a regular play for me.

Personally I'd sooner spend money on some of the excellent Front Row Clubs live downloads.  Others, of course, might think Remixomatosis is the best thing on the planet!

I've only played it twice so far.  Initial reaction is yes, it's a good 'un, but it hasn't replaced the debut album in my affections as yet. But give it time... *horns*

Of course it is!!!  ::) ;D

When I'm Emperor of the Galaxy, anyone not owning a full set of Porcupine Tree albums is lilkely to be pushed out of an airlock somewhere.  ;) ;D ;)

Maybe you could also think of banning of the galaxy (at least temporarily) people who don't want to enter "the other song title game contest"  ;D
