8)  At first listen, I remember finding it excellent too  *horns* ... but it didn't grow on me as much as expected  afterwards  :(   I listened to it again yesterday (well, only disc one, I keep the second for tonight ;D) and it is very good indeed. The ballad Comfort Me is a killer !

We're in sync here, my esteemed lady. And I am THE Shadow Gallery fan. Not just A.

I also like Adel Moustafa's drumming a lot. He's one of my fave drummers. What is your opinion, Deenie ?

Certainly nothing wrong there. If I'd do stuff differently at all, it'd be because I can't pull off what he does.

Indeed.  There's lots of great tunes on the album, I'd forgotten just how good the title track is for example. John Watts seemed to have a genius for the catchy tune, but I lost touch after Fischer-Z originally split.  I see from his website that he's been busy since then, so I think I need to investigate.  8)

NP  Foreigner 4

First spin left me cold, sounded pretty banal. But now, on second run, it carries me a bit away. Lou Gramm certainly does sing very expressively. When he sings "I've been waiting for a girl like you to come into my life," you can actually believe him (a bit), if you're not cynical (watch out, roomies) and see the megabucks a-rollin. Of course, Foreigner was mainly a commercial undertaking, but when that's said, it was one of the better, I'd say, in league with Chris Rea (yeah, I know some of you will wanna kill me for sayin that), and Break It Up almost rises up to Kansas class (note that I said "almost", Bups).

That sorta wraps up my take on Foreigner.

Well, I didn't know what to think of Deenie's sentence so I didn't answer (but checked that I still have a blue arrow in my profile  ;)). Yours doesn't deserve an answer, Wicky Nicky.

I LOVE a awful lot of cheesy ballads (think of REO Speedwagon Can't Fight this Feeling, for instance  *horns*) but I absolutely dislike this one. It gets me on my nerves and when it comes to the keyboard "solo", I just want to stop it. Now.

QuoteOf course, Foreigner was mainly a commercial undertaking, but when that's said, it was one of the better, I'd say, in league with Chris Rea (yeah, I know some of you will wanna kill me for sayin that), and Break It Up almost rises up to Kansas class (note that I said "almost", Bups).

Sorry Nicky, but Break it Up doesn't remind me of Kansas at all. It's true that Kansas became a (very) bad AOR band after Vinyl Confessions and until Somewhere tio Elsewhere. During this period, I find all their albums inferior to Foreigner 4, which has a few catchy songs. But before this period, Kansas was really a symphonic prog band (first), then a symphonic/metal prog band, then a symphonic/metal/(brilliant)AOR prog band.

I strongly believe that somebody who likes catchy AOR/metal with hints of progressive music, in the vein IMHO of Shadow Gallery's Room V that we were discussing lately, should check Kansas Audio-Visions. Sorry for proselytism again but you got me started  ;)

NP Dream Theater - Falling into Infinity

Speaking of "cheesy" ballads, I also LOVE Take Away my Pain  *horns* ... that I don't find cheesy at all, the lyrics sounding pretty brilliant to me.
