Alcohol is not new, but drugs again? Are you sure? He has a beautiful wife and a baby, younger than 1 year. I would be shocked.

Hi Teunis,

Read it but didn't see it by myself. So I hope it's wrong. But on the videos of recent interviews that you can't find on Youtube, he doesn't look good. I guess his decision to end Toto must be a burden some days but I feel that his main problem is that he suffers (and will always do) from the lack of recognition of musical press and business. And, ho, yes, he is 50 now ...

On a more happy note, watching and listening to this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eXKzo2jWQIc

Someone else is watching this series ? I find it funny and refreshing. PH, they are about your age ?   ;)

Read the booklets, and make sure you check out Buddy Lackey - The strange mind of..., while you're at it. For you, it'll be worth it.

I already know enough about Buddy aka Devon, DST, and PW to be certain that he's one of the great geniuses of rock  *horns*

I also like Adel Moustafa's drumming a lot. He's one of my fave drummers. What is your opinion, Deenie ?

NP  Nevermore:  Dreaming Neon Black  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Nevermore and DT are imm the two top bands of prog metal  8)

I'm sure that you guys would agree (at least, partly) if you made just as much of an effort with N as with DT  ;)

Well, let's take it as a rumour and not as news. Some people talk to much. And I'm sure his wife will hold him under her thumb while he is home  ;D ;).

This afternoon's 'music to do domestic chores to'  :D

Just finished Collage - Moonshine.  I've never been hugely into Collage.  I think they're pretty good, but they never grabbed me in quite the same way as Satellite do. So I'm giving them another go, but I think it's still Satellite for me.  *horns*

Just started Shadow Gallery - Room V.  Sounds excellent so far!  The problem is that if I think it's too good I'm going to want to buy the 2 disc version... ::)

8)  At first listen, I remember finding it excellent too  *horns* ... but it didn't grow on me as much as expected  afterwards  :(   I listened to it again yesterday (well, only disc one, I keep the second for tonight ;D) and it is very good indeed. The ballad Comfort Me is a killer !

I shall have to see how it goes.  I've played it once so far and it sounded superb, but then everything I played this afternoon sounded superb.  Lovely sunny day, pottering in the garden with my iPrune iPod and all is right in the world.  Happiness is a neatly trimmed bush, as I'm sure Nicky will confirm.  ;)

Yeah, but there gotta be some openings too  ;D

NP  Nevermore:  Dreaming Neon Black

This one grips me as much as Endeavor. I also noticed that several N-fans have Neon as fave. There are differences, but I don't wanna try to put'm in words yet. Some of Neon sounds quite Opeth-like. What's your impression, Stevie ?

Nevermore need a rest  ;D

so now I'v been checking out some groups on MySpace, and here's my p.t. opinion:

Amaseffer:  Slaves For Life  -  intriguing oriental atmospheres, fine musicianship, still don't like the main singing much, not on the verge to buy the album

Galahad:  Empires Never Last  -  more to my taste, they remind me of Pallas, altho not quite as dynamic, got the album on my SL

Signs Of One:  Innerlands  (group based in Quebec, our fellow roomie Tristelune is the drummer)  -  many interesting unusual ideas, but they gotta work a lot harder to get'm together and make something gripping

Tinyfish:  Tinyfish  -  too laid back for my taste, remind me of H-Marillion, excellent musicians

So guys, let me hear to what extent you agree  :)

Pretty much the same as in my previous comment about it.  Although I've played it more now and know it better, it's still more 'metal' than TGE. I like it a lot, but whilst I'd buy anything that sounds like TGE, I'll probably only buy a representative selection of ones that sound like Neon.  So, if you've got any tips after your listening, just let me know.  8)

WOW, what a way to start !  (A bit misleading, as they had a solid background in Sanctuary.) Not everything is great here, but it does already smack of Endeavor.

Sieges Even - Playgrounds.

Perhaps not the greatest live album ever, but still mighty fine.  Excellent band, excellent music, excellent performance.  Sound quality lets it down a bit - a horrible fizzy cymbal sound was p*ss*ng me off within two minutes of hearing it for the first time.  Some awesome bass guitar on there, and a whole two tracks from 'A Sense of Change' which I wasn't expecting given it was the Paramount tour.  *horns*

Nice, Iggy. I'm curious to hear what you think of it. But give it some spins first.

I find that the most mind-boggling track on Endeavor is the last, the title song. Whew  *horns*

NP  Iced Earth:  Framing Armageddon

Already sounds great on first listen, and seems like a real grower. Similar to Blind Guardian, but better imo (altho I also have to give BG some more spins).

It's not the celebrated Matt Barlow singing on this album, but Tim "Ripper" Owens is excellent too.

Edit: It's so good that I'm playing it a second time in a row despite having so many other new interesting albums. There's a lot more here than BG have to offer.

Anyone else into Iced Earth ?

Yup.  Pretty much.  Actually, having checked, I bought 15 albums in 2007 - quality rather than quantity.  Included were Marillion/Somewhere, Fish/13 and the mighty Porcupine Tree/FoaBP.  8)
