Don't know that one...

Do you recommend it? What kind of music is it?

I'm listening to "Canvas - Digital Pigeon"
02. The Spectacle

Whoa, very nice!!
Retro Prog from 2007. Very much Folky. Sounds a bit like Jethro Tull, or maybe Camel.

Here you can listen to some samples: http://cdbaby.com/cd/canvas07

Symphony X: Paradise Lost.

This album is awesome. I find that SyX are now as exciting as Dream Theater, and that means: unbelievably good.

With this album, SyX have convincingly proven that they are in the top rank of heavy prog.

I also really like Paradise Lost. Don't know which one I like more. I think V and PL are equally good.

I was listening to good ol' Kino today. Man, that's just amazing music. Clever, simple and astonishing good at the same time.
*remembers the gig on 10th of December 2005* Awww that was a great night!

:-\ :'( I really hope they will redo something one day but the critics were not so good, so ... Too poppy, they say, and John can't sing (man, so wrong !!!)  Sometimes (often), I am stricken (is it the correct word ?) by the fundamentalism of prog fans ...

Back to the topic : Shadow Gallery, Carved in Stone LP. My first try with them and I am very pleasantly surprised !

It can pass, but a Brit or American would say "I am dismayed".

> by the fundamentalism of prog fans ...

Right, and what annoys me most is reviews by people who beforehand have decided to run down an album (because they hate the guts of the musicians) and/or only play it once before doing so. The worst, and it really occurs, is when they write "I've only played it once, but ...". Man, I could #¤%&/()!§* them!

Bupie, I'd like to hear your qualified opinion of Paradise Lost. Isn't it absolutely fabulous (helping you a bit)?

OK, OK, I'll get on topic. So what do you expect? I'm of course still spinning PL. And I will be for a mighty long time. Yankeedoodledoo!

I've played a marvelous bit on my keyboard! (If I dare to say so myself...)
I recorded it, but man... I need a band... I can't do this on my own...
I have lots lots lots and lots of ideas, I've got a band name, even a band logo but no musicians... :P

Anyone living in the Netherlands (in the region of Utrecht or (that would be better) Amersfoort wanting to be in my band?

Buckeroo.  ;D
Blah di blah? ???

The result of too much prog!

Did you know that buckeroo is another name for cowboy? (comes from Spanish vaquero, vaca=cow, just checked it up)

Doodle=pr..., and Yankee Doodle originally was a song mocking the American revolutionaries.

NP  Symphony X : V

Great stuff. Amazing how different the SyX albums are from each other.

I just played "Magic Pie - Circus Of Life" again.

People people people, if you like Dream Theater, Spock's Beard, Neal Morse or anything that comes close to any of these, run to your local prog store and buy it immediately.
Don't hestitate, you can blindly trust me, yes it is this great.
It's sometimes heavy, sometimes gentle. This is how music should be! This ends very very VERY high on my 2007 year top 10 list. Neal Morse, watch out with your Sola Scriptura, the Magic Pie is coming to town with their Circus. In fact I think I rather listen to this album by Magic Pie than the latest of Dream Theater. I'm actually quite sure of it!

The Pie and Morse are battling it out. What a hard fight!

Who will win in the end...?

:-[ I am ashamed to admit that I didn't listen to it yet ... and didn't plan to do so   :-\ :-\  I only have DWOT and V and I am not really fan of those albums, you know.

BUT ... to be honest, I didn't play V much so far and I do like most of DWOT, especially Accolade (that's got a Kansas feeling) and Out of the ashes (for its extra-catchy chorus).

I find the artcover of PL very attractive, though, and I should see the band live in october in Paris when they are going to open for DT. So maybe I am going to give way to temptation and buy PL ...  ???

Your better self says you MUST.

I find V real great and The Odyssey excellent too (the other albums I don't yet know well enough), but Paradise Lost is a very special treat. The biggest progress is that there is so much power in Russ's singing. He is now close to being my fave rock singer. But also the music is tighter and more daring. The wonderful ballad The Sacrifice (track 9) is my choice of Song of the year 2007.

So, Bupie, if you want a hot summer, then get it!
