That's cool funkster!

Could it be that we are the same person? :o
Peter! Check our IP addresses! :D

Ahem... ::)
I was comparing the two albums a bit and I must say that I like both VERY much. And I really like the progression they make with each album. Pepper's Ghost has indeed a bit Threshold influences (Karl Groom mixed the stuff, so the guitars have this massive Metal sound) but the keyboards are still VERY Arena and the overall sound too.
It's very hard to say which album I like best... When I'm in a heavy mood I definately want to crank it up to ten, and Pepper's Ghost is brilliant for this. When I'm more in emotional-mode I love to sing along with Paul Wrightson's wailing, sniffing and howling on The Visitor.
And all Arena's albums have something of their own really.

At the moment I'm not listening to something, but before I got to sleep yesterday evening I listened (while in bed) to Spock's Beard's Spock's Beard. Unfortunately somewhere after Skeletons At The Feast I fell to sleep (probably) because it was late and I was so tired (not because Spock's Beard was boring, I think it's a great album!).

I know what you mean. It's quite a testing ride listening to PoS. Quite technical and somehow not in a DT-ish way. It's very different from the rest mainly because Daniells voice and lyrical skills. (or the lack of it.  :P)
The first album i bought was Remedy lane and i had to get through it the hard way to appreciate it. And i accomplished that after i heard BE.  ;D
Right now i have all of the albums and i like it a lot.  *horns*

I have some sort of respect for PoS, because they're really doing their own thing.
They definately have their own style. It's no ordinary Metal. Or no ordinary Progressive Metal for that matter.

But I have a problem with the lyrics... they're far too dark for me... No, that's not the right word... I don't like profanity or any kind of that in music. I just think it isn't nessecary.
And (I'll say it again) it's very hard for a christian (or other follower of a religion) to make the right decisions of what to listen to and what not.
PoS are using words and sentences I can't explain...

LOL, I'm having a hard time posting my thoughts using the right words... :D

In general, let's just say that PoS's lyrics are against my principles and beyond my boundaries. :D

That's perfectly alright, PH. Makes absolutely clear, what your point is. Nobody's going to argue with you about that. Then again, you could have simply stated that "you don't like their music", right :D But that's how Christians are supposed to behave, and that's a good thing, too. Spread the word, that's what he said, right.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Arena - The Cry

Excellent post my young Dutch mate.

I have recently returned to Christianity after a 20 year hiatus and although i would not listen to say Cradle of filth i do love Opeth  ???

Its not easy mate but keep with it and you will begin to know what is right and wrong or good and rubbish if you will  ;)

Feel free to e mail me off forum anytime if you want to discuss anything like this. OK ?

PH

Hehehehe thanks guys! ;D

Well, that's exactly the problem. :D
I like their music! I have downloaded a couple of songs and really liked them but I can't support their lyrics.
Opeth is a different matter, 'cause I'm not certain with their lyrics (I haven't read all of them by the way, LOL).
And Arena is also "not wrong" in my opinion. It's also a matter of feeling of course.

When I woke up the first thing on my mind was: "AYREON!"
So I popped in the DVD with behind the scenes from The Human Equation.
I really hope Arjen can come up with something good this year, 'cause it's almost impossible to get to this level again... I think...
If the new album is just half as good as THE, I'm happy! ;D

Don't get me wrong here PH, i respect your decisions and believes but i must say that i think you misunderstand their lyrics. Indeed they're a bit dark sometimes but there's a story behind every PoS album. BE for instance is about the subject, which maybe is a bit too much for you since you're a Christian, is about how god became...god? What were his feelings and how did he progress? What if god was, just like us humans, just searching for the meaning of what he described as 'life'?
Heavy subject for some, i know, but i think it's an interesting question.

Like i said, each to his own opinion and believes respect for that, but i personally don't think the lyrics and the intentions of PoS is all but dark. Just wanted to say that.  ;)

I only made it through to track 6 until now, I was at the movies with my love. But it's beautiful and gorgeous, as far as I've heard it.
