I'm constantly playing Spock's Beard and Octane, and just a few minutes ago I watched a bit of the Porcupine Tree DVD.

SB's Spock's Beard is actually really good.

And my teacher at school gave me a disc full of Bill Bruford albums and one of The Carniacs AND one of Rush (namely Fly By Night).
Can someone comment on those artists please?

I played Neal Morse's Testimony today.

And now I'm listening to Caravan (via Prog Archives).
This certainly doesn't sound bad! It sounds old though... But I'm sure this was progressive back then! Still very contemporary music in fact.
Do they still bring out new albums?

PH

Now Playing:
Björn Lynne - 2001 - The Gods Awaken - King Felino And The Slay Ground

On Prog Archives it says this belongs to Progressive Electronic, but I'm not sure about that. It could be indexed in Symphonic Prog or sometimes even Light-Heavy Metal. ;D
I was wondering if anyone of you has ever heard of this artist (besides that he wrote the soundtrack to the Worms games).
The track on Prog Archives is really good actually! (I think)

On Pandora it says that some similar albums include Dream Theater's Six Degrees and Erik Norlander's Music Machine.
(I won't say that's true ::), but these are one of his influences (among Marillion, Genesis and many others)
It's quite bombastic sometimes and it reminds me of some Dune soundtracks I've heard.

Peter

Marillion - You're Gone (Marbles)

on Pandora

Thanks for reminding me of this project, PH. I created a station some time ago and it'll be fun to see what it brings up now.
Still don't like H's voice, though.... maybe this barrier will never fall in my mind...

Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Peter

Black Stone Cherry - Tired of the Rain (on Pandora)

Very kewl. Not prog, but great anyway. A nice hammond in the background, two guitars, and a good voice.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

My oh my! :o
I looked at Bjorn Lynne's official website and found out that you can listen to FULL songs (all songs actually) in "low" quality. (KBPS = 40, KHZ = 22)
So I downloaded Valley Of The Clouds which is a song of 7:17 minutes and only 2 MB. And I was shocked how brilliant it was! :o
I really liked his work with Worms (when I was 10 years old or so), but this is truly progressive music!

Everybody who reads this, please, (for your own good) download this track (and the others while you're at it ;)) here: http://www.lynnemusic.com/wizard.html

Sorry for this "advertising" but I think it's my duty to alert other people of great music! ;D

EDIT: Maybe I should add that (to me) it had the Ayreon-flavour.
