NP: Queen and Tom Chaplin (from Keane) - It's A Hard Life

What a stunning performance. If you close your eyes and pretend that he's still alive you won't even realise that it's not Freddy Mercury singing. 8)

Sparks:  Kimono My House

Totally ingenious, one of the great masterpieces of rock  *horns*

Lots of fine details. Takes many runs to appreciate fully  ;)

NP Avantasia - The Scarecrow

After a few listens, I must tell that I am really impressed. I know Mad and Nicky have once told that it's not their cup of tea but I think that Peter or Teunis could have a very pleasant surprise with this one. But I guess that Peter already knows Avantasia.

It's hard to describe the music, though : a mix of hard rock, speed metal and AOR, perfectly executed and produced, with a bunch of brilliant guest singers (Roy Kahn, Jorn Lande ...). The same formula than Ayreon, without the prog touch. I must tell (dont hit me, please) that I prefer it to my Ayreon albums.

By the way, Nicky, I read that a new Ten album is out : it's called Stormwatcher or something like that.

Yeah, with the zonderbare Mark on drums. We've already talked about it in the Room, Bups, and the drummer marked the beginning of Mad's interest in Ten - but, of course, news takes time to get to frogland  ;)

NP  Sparks:  The Rhythm Thief

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ive4NdBMjt0

Quite unusual, just classical instrument with human voices, guess you could call it art-rock, but, of course, it's the one and only Sparks  *horns*

The first song on their album Li'l Beethoven, with a video, with a special treat on two legs, which should get you guys goin .....

Guess you guys think that I got a Sparks craze  :o

Well, there just might be a reason  ;)

Lives up to the title, magnificent, mind-boggling  *horns*

NP  Ryan Adams  on  YouTube

Quite different music. One of my new colleagues told me that he sounded somewhat like Jeff Buckley, so immediately I was hooked. And he has a similar mood, and it does sound great  *horns*

NP Blind Guardian - A Twist In The Myth

I don't like the moments when Hansi goes for a high pitched/screaming type of voice but musically there are some great moments here (Otherland, Turn The Page, Another Strange Me ...).

NP Outlaws - Outlaws

First album of this southern rock band, including the mighty and freebirdesque Green Grass & High Tides.

Southern rock is a genre very barely discussed in the Room but it has its gems too. Ah, the Molly Hatchet cover of Allman brothers's Dreams  8) 8) 8)

Pantera and Down are on the list of "southern rock groups" at Wikipedia, subgenre "southern metal" (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Southern_rock_bands), and they're pantheon (pantheron  ;D) with me  ;)

Strangely I never really got into Allman Brothers. My impression is that they weren't played much in Denmark, and hardly at all in my circles. Guess I should give'm a run sometime .....
