NP Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura

NP IQ - The Wake (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)
I purchased this one directly from the band's web site where I found it at the cheapest price (16 £). As you know, this is a 3 CDs + 1 DVD edition. So it was a good opportunity to discover The Wake after more than 25 years of delaying  :P

I did the same a few weeks ago with Tales ... but in this case it has been 30 years of delaying !!!

Honestly, I don't know why I waited so long since I love everything I am hearing from these two albums. Maybe my love for Nomzamo and AYSC -which made me discover IQ- was so strong that, unconsciously, I did not want to admit that the band existed before ... Of course, I was wrong but that I knew right from the start  :D The good point is that I get the remastered editions with tons of bonuses  *horns*

PH

Sounds great Bupie!
I think I need to update my IQ collection. I only have their latest three albums, which are all very good I must add.

Yesterday and today I was listening to Rick Wakeman's much anticipated "Journey To The Centre Of The Earth". It's really good!

I also purchased this one, right after it was released. Why do I always buy the special editons as most of the time I only often play the 1st cd and the rest only once?  ::) ;).

It depends on what the rest is about. I like to get bonus songs : all you risk (apart from the extra-price) is a good surprise. But what I am really fond of are the extended booklets. I love to read stories about an album : concept, context, recording sessions, song by song comments, reeditions afterthoughts. With Tales and The Wake, I get plenty of that.

@ PH : go on, extend your collection. My advice would be to begin with Ever, this one should not disappoint you.

NP CRS New Species first volume

This one includes Unitopia's What Kind Of World, which is an awesome song ... that was just a bonus track on their album  :P Check this one on Youtube  *horns*

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Steve Jones

Steve Hogarth & Richard Barbieri - Not The Weapon But The Hand

Definitely one of the best 2012 releases for me *horns*
Regards, Steve Jones

"Then I'll know my bet will win, when the saints go marching in"

Bupie

NP Blind Guardian - At The Edge Of Time

A different tempo than Hogarth and Barbieri  :) I own this one for two years now but it has received very few airplay so far : I did not like much what I heard on first listens. New try ...

Bupie

NP IQ - The Wake (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)

Listening to disc 3, which contains 12 tracks ... that are just different versions of 3 songs ! Mike Holmes' haircut was quite something back then  :D

Steve Jones

Porcupine Tree - Octane Twisted

"The Raven That Refused To Sing (And Other Stories)" is so damned good that I'm in complete SW/PT catalogue trawl mode at the moment *horns*

Genesis:  The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway  &  Selling England by the Pound  (on repeat)

Deeply impressed !!!  *horns*

This remains some of the best rock music  8)

Now at last I got down to listening in to these two classics, and what a joy it has been  :)

Intelligent and challenging lyrics, varied subtle music, melody, moodiness, expressive singing by PG, and fine musicianship.

These days I can only listen to these two fine albums.

Next will be Trick, Wind, and Three - I'm lookin forward to it. Let's see .....

I much anticipated that 40 years ago, Paxi - but you'r a bit slower than me  ;D

Well, I was first with the Genesis albums Nicky!
In my book, SEBTP and Lamb are one of the best Progressive Rock albums ever.

Bupie

NP Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony

A new Avantasia album will be released next month and I can't wait  *horns*

Bupie

NP Dream Theater - ADTOE

Great album, just like BC&SL  *horns* I am rarely disappointed when I pick a DT studio album randomly to play it. Live albums are a different story, especially LSFNY.

Guess you were, Paxi. With Arena too  :-[

But that's about it. Your speculating gets in the way  :P

Your book is very singular, Paxi  ;D

NP  Genesis:  Selling ... (on repeat)

Great that it's a double album, so much fine music  *horns*

What's most surprising is that the guys were only in their mid-twenties. I'm more than twice that, and I am fully engaged by this album  8)

I am never disappointed with DT, studio or live. Whatever they do, it's always fabulous  *horns*

"Selling England By The Pound" is not a double album... But of course you can play it at double speed.

Bupie

NP Dream Theater - ADTOE

Fourth listen in a row since yesterday evening. Promised, after this last one, I move to something else. Not Genesis, though, since I only own Trespass and Duke and they are not within hand's reach at the moment.

Yeah, I'm efficient, that's how I get so much around  ;D

You caught me there, Paxi, I was of course thinking of Lamb with "double album"  :-[

Selling England is a great album, but Lamb is even one step better, the pinnacle of the Gabriel-period. That's why I'm happy that it's a double album  *horns*

One can't help wondering how Genesis would'v developed had Gabriel stayed ... but it's impossible to guess  ???

Gabriel and Genesis went in very different directions - both fortunately very creative  8)

You should really get Lamb, Bupie, super album  *horns*

I will one day, for sure.

NP Dream Theater - ADTOE

Again. Yes, I lied  ;D And I think that Breaking All Illusions has become my fave DT song  *horns*

Bupie

NP Mystery - The World Is A Game

I finally found the strengh to take ADTOE out of the CD player  :D

This afternoon: my latest purchases:
Antimatter - Fear Of A Unique Identity
Riverside - S.O.N.G.S.

Both are really great, but I already knew that  ;)

Now listening to the new Spock's Beard album!!
I preordered it and the band sent me a download of the album just minutes ago!
I'm now at the third track and it sounds good! 8)

PH

After Spock's Beard's "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleep", I listened to Riverside's "Shrine Of New Generation Slaves". Both albums still have to grow on me of course, but I was not disappointed as of yet.

Now I'm listening to Roine Stolt's "The Flower King", a Prog Rock masterpiece. I like every song on this album. Still can't believe I bought this for only ten euros. Anyone here who does NOT like it? ;)
