About to start a 6.5 hour meeting with some Danish guys.

Most Danish men are beerdrinkers, Iggy (Danish women usually prefer wine), so take'm out for a pint afterwards  ;)

NP  Arcturus:  Sideshow Symphonies  (on repeat)

Superalbum  *horns*

Sadly no time to tonight. They are good guys. Hopefully I will get a trip to Copenhagen for the beers.  ;D

The Butterfly Man

I checked out Arcturus today and at first I was a bit put-off by the black metal-tag, but man, I'm glad I still went for it and listened to some of their songs, including the amazing clip of Shipwrecked Frontier Pioneer Nicky posted! 8)

Actually the mood is quite close to Skyforger (Tom  ;) ) - maybe that's why I like Sideshow Symphonies so much  ;D 8)

Hmm, I disagree with you there. I think the mood on Skyforger is quite happy and optimistic whereas Arcturus' songs (the ones I've heard) sound really threatening and dark. But I like that too! In fact, I think I'm gonna pay a visit to my local metal-store tomorrow after work to see if they have Sideshow Symphonies. I'm really impressed with these guys! *horns*

NP: Arcane - Chronicles Of The Waking Dream

Guys, if you like Pain Of Salvation (The Perfect Element part I and Remedy Lane especially) you really need to check this Australian band out. You can listen to their entire album for free here: http://www.myspace.com/arcaneaustralia

Ainit  *horns*

To my mind the most awesome metal video I can recall !!!

Actually the studio version on Sideshow is great too, very different from the live version. Halfway thru, in the quiet section, there's a female wordless vocal that goes off - haunting and spiritual  8)

Maybe even this could be an incentive for Bupsie to listen to'm  ;D

I understand why they use the tag "avant-garde" metal for Arcturus  8)

Man, every time I switch on my set at home these days, my hand goes automatically for the Sideshow cd. This album is spellbinding  *horns*

The earlier Arcturus albums are quite different, and the first songs on their MySpace are from the earlier albums. But many passages on Sideshow do remind me of Skyforger. Tom, get Sideshow, and we'l get back to this matter  :)

I played all three again to properly judge them.  I'm going to agree with you here and choose SMPT:e.

I think SMPT:e is actually my least favourite Transatlantic album. I rarely listen to it these days, whereas I still regularly play Bridge Across Forever – which holds my absolute favourite track Duel With The Devil - and of course The Whirlwind.

Ohhh tell me about it! I heard them play all the new tracks but one last month and was very impressed. I have to get this album as well asap. It's a tough period for my wallet again... ;D

I bought it yesterday, listening for the first time right now but so far so good! 8)

Nicky, you will like this. I also bought the following album yesterday, I couldn't resist since it was only 10 Euro's...

NP: Judas Priest - Nostradamus

It's more progressive than I thought it would be to be honest. The track 'Conquest' is playing now, I really like the riffing! 8)

EDIT: Oh my, Lost Love is so beautiful, it sends shivers down my spine... :)

Well, Bupie was only asking about the studio ones, plus I don't actually have the live ones.  I'm not all that partial to medleys, truth be told.  I've heard the Mystery Train one that goes into Beatles stuff, but I find that I'd rather just hear more Mystery Train.

All are good, and Duel With the Devil is indeed excellent.  I was rather late coming to Transatlantic, so I haven't had a chance to get tired of any of them yet.

Seriously, Lost Love is wonderful, the most wonderful love song I'v heard ... and sung by a gay - just goes to show how love and music transcend all forms  *horns*

Tom, when will you start to believe me  ::) ;D

Nostra is an album for mature proggies. I guess one first has to cut one's teeth on some murder-massacre-death metal stuff ..... Then comes the time when one longs for something suuubtle and spiriiitual - but still metal !

Only few have reached this point. But more will come. And then Nostra will get the recognition that it deserves  8)

I'v decided that this eve I'l play Sideshow once more and then deliver it back to the library. I simply can't have the damn thing lying around  ;D

And since there's been so much palaver about Transatlantic, I guess I'l have to give my two Transatlantic cd's a few runs .....  ;)

It's a lyric from the Vienna Circle-album 'White Clouds'. It's a concept album which dates back to pre 1914 and follows the life of a young British man who moves from the south coast of England to the centre of Berlin a few months before the First World War breaks out.

I like the name of the band very much. I mean, I think it sounds much better than Metallica or Megadeth. For the music, we'll see ...
