That would definitely be a good plan.

NP: The free MP3 stream on Prog Archives.

Some good-sounding stuff here.  I feel the need to pick up some fresh material, so it's time to browse.  One thing they had was a song by Moonspell, which I noticed a couple Roomies have been listening to lately.  Sounded promising -- any comments and/or recommendations for their best album to start with?  I'm also thinking it's time to invest in something by Magellan.

Avenged Sevenfold:  City Of Evil

Should appeal to several Roomies. Playful and melodic metal (despite the album title), similar to A.C.T  ;)

Today was a working from home day. So lots of music played.

Devin Townsend - Addicted, Ki
Some Yes - Keys to Ascension, Talk and The Word is Live
And have finished with Subterranea, The Seventh House and Dark Matter.

Definitely a good day.

After Forever - Invisibles Circles

Not very impressed  :-\

After I discovered and enjoyed a lot Nightwish, all my attemps with female fronted gothic metal bands (AF, Epica, WT ...) have been rather disappointing.

I'll put this one on the re-sale list since it sells at a good price on the after (not forever) market.

Have you tried Lacuna Coil?  They tend to get categorized with the above bands, although they're less operatic/symphonic.  I find Cristina Scabbia's vocals very powerful and special, although again she's more of just a really impressive powerful singer than operatic.

Before Sleep: Abigail's Ghost - Selling Insincerity     I like this album quite a bit, although I found the follow-up disappointing.

NP: ELO - Greatest Hits

Which Lacuna Coil is a good one to start with? I have been thinking about them (as well as Lana Lane).

I haven't got D_letion and have not heard many people have anything good to say about it.

Coincidentally, I also just played Experiments in Mass Appeal.  I think I like the first Frost* album better, but this one is growing on me a bit.

I like their first full album, In a Reverie.  Comalies and Karmacode are also very good IMO.  I haven't heard the newest one, so can't comment on that.

I bought Comalies a few months ago and am not impressed neither. I have the feeling that I am listening to the -more or less- same song over and over ...  :-X

By mistake, "b" became "h".

That here is an interpretation, I'd say.

QuoteHowever, in rock, one uses B and Bes, not H and B, as far as I know all over the world, so I'm surprised that Cap wrote H  ???

Seems like, yes. Actually, everybody outside of "classical"/"serious" music uses "b" instead of "h". Even "serious" musicians in the UK and US use "h", not "b", so it's not an "anglo-saxonian" thing, either.

Nevertheless, the book I'm working with atm, also uses "h" or "H", although it's clearly a "rock guitar" lessons book.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

That's the way I learnt it as a music student, Cap, from several teachers  :-\

I just don't like this use of "serious". I find that it reflects intolerance on the side of people who resist familiarising themselves with rock and jazz (not you, Cap).

I'm just as serious about my rock as I was for many years about my Bach and Beethoven, which is very serious (as you guys might have figured).
