Ratt - Ratt.

The 1999 album, as opposed to the 1983 debut EP of the same name.  More grit, less glam - but still interesting.  Word on the streets back in the day was that the magic had gone, but listening to it now it seems an equally valid album.  Just a bit different to the previous releases.

Edit: Got as far as track 8 and think this album is freakin' awesome.  Definitely a fair bit grittier than earlier releases and with some corking tunes.  I can hear bits of Aerosmith in places, and the odd hint of Leppard, but mainly I hear a band rockin' out bigtime.  Glad I plonked this one in the ripping pile. *horns*

Not bad. Not bad at all.

GTR - Live on the King Biscuit Flower Hour

While the charge of AOR with intent still stands, this disk features versions of such gems as Hackett's 'Spectral Mornings', Genesis' 'I Know What I Like', Howe's 'Pennants' and Yes' 'Roundabout' so I think it's a pleasant enough (if not life-changing) experience.

For some reason Last.FM can't make heads or tails out of it.  ???
It doesn't list them.  :-\

I'm in Foo Fighter-mode right now.

I just played Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace, and I'm now playing There Is Nothing Left To Lose.

Great music on this nice evening. I'm watching the sun set in the distance and Foo Fighters provide the perfect soundtrack! :)

Another entry for the 'Oh my God I'd forgotten how awesome this band are' section.  Unplayed here for many years, but I'm just ripping the section of my collection where Reef/R.E.M./Renaissance live.  Reef are pure, elemental rock, sounding like a bunch of blokes with guitars plugged into amps rather than computers.  More than a hint of the Rolling Stones and other primal 60s/70s bands.  Gritty, bluesy vocals to die for. *horns*

I seem to remember the term 'Dadrock' doing the rounds at the time 8)

R.E.M. - Up.

For me, this is the opposite end of the R.E.M. spectrum to the mighty 'Document'.  I couldn't get into it when it came out, and I can't get into it now :(

I can imagine Leonard Cohen fans listening to this if they're having a difficult week ;)
