Manning - Songs from the Bilston House.

Still my favourite Manning release, even after the obligatory 'settling down' period I usually need in order to get out of my 'This is the best album in the history of the world! Ever!' phase.  (See also Osada Vida, Beardfish, etc)  ;D

Marillion - Misplaced Childhood.

I tend to think of the eighties as being the low point in the history of music, but then I play something like this and realise I shouldn't generalise!  ;)  *horns*

Talking about bargains...
You're not going to believe this......

Yesterday I was in an Albert Heijn (Dutch retail supermarket) in Utrecht Overvecht.
Sometimes they also sell cds. But of course that's pop music crap, so I don't bother.
So I passed it, but wait a minute!! What's that??

Believe it or not... "Clive Nolan & Oliver Wakeman's The Hound Of The Baskervilles" for only 2,99 euros!!
I couldn't believe it... When I didn't have it, I was searching every alternative music shop and finally imported it from verglas.com for 15 euros.
And now they have it on sale in an Albert Heijn....
For 2,99....
2 bloody 99!!

What the...?

At the very least that should be sold at a reasonable 5 euros, and not in an Albert Heijn! And certainly not amongst Britney's greatest hits, the Spice Girls 5 cd box and K3's De Drie Biggetjes... As if it's some cheap worthless sh*t no-one would ever buy!
It's blasphemy!

Yes, I was a bit angry (although that might not be the right word).
But later on I regretted that I didn't buy it. I could give it to someone else to get them into prog...

Paxi, there's only one solution to this problem:  Throw a Molotov Cocktail thru (in any sense) the window of the Albert Heijn !

Altho I'l have to change your name then  ;D

NP: Mew - White Lips Kissed

Anybody familiar with this Danish band? They have a lot of progressive elements in their music without sounding like your average progressive band, if that makes any sense.

Here's a link to their MySpace, so go and have a listen at: http://www.myspace.com/mew.

Since you live in Denmark, are they 'popular' there Nicky?

maybe Nicky got it right with this one historical interest only. The sound quality is not brilliant (imo) however my copy was purloined through a dubious route.
the roosevelt concert is better quality having been a live radio broadcast and I think it is the same tour.

Not an outfit I've checked out yet.  Unfortunately, as new music outstrips waking hours by an ever increasing margin, I've decided I'm fighting a losing battle unless someone bequeaths me a sonic screwdriver and a second heart.  ::)

Yeah, they're one of the most popular bands here in the Copenhagen area for people who want something more serious than the usual radio junk, but not so popular with proggies. I must also say that the few listens I'v had with'm havent gripped me in any way - I find that they sound like so many other good rock groups - but I'm not excluding that I might find some treasures in their music one fine day; it's happened surprisingly with other groups, e.g. DT and Nevermore - seriously  8) ;D

Guys, I'm sorry, I dont know what the QPR volumes are, and I dont either know what you mean, Iggy  ???

These days I'm mainly switching between my five Nevermore albums when alone (they give me endless joy), and listening to lighter stuff when together with Ms 007 and Johnny, my work partner (we spend 2-3 hours driving together every workday). With both Ms and Johnny, Linkin Park's Minutes To Midnight works quite well, but with Johnny I also have to put up with a lot of radio music  :'(  (but aside from that, he's a real cool guy)  8)
