So folks, it's official:

The new album from Sylvan will be called Force Of Gravity.

I don't believe the release date has been set yet but i'm anxiously waiting for this one as well.
I find Sylvan a typical underrated gem that has to been heard much more in Prog-world.

The tracklist is still in random order but these song might appear on the new album:

Episode 609 (ca. 5:30)
Turn of the Tide (ca. 7:00)
King Porn (ca. 7:30)
From the Silence (ca. 5:40)
God of Rubbish (ca. 4:00)
Vapour Trail (ca. 14:30)

Strange titles though. Especially the ones highlighted.
They must have a valid reason for that.  ;D

It won't be a Concept album, nor are the tracks related to each other.

You can read more info and see some pix on their Website.

Like i said: Can't wait.  *horns*

Any thoughts?

Cool artwork!

I'll keep an eye on this.

On a side note, to anyone who is capable doing it:

If you order the album over here, you get the album at the beginning of August.

That means you have the advantage to listen to the new album, unless you received a certain 'promo' [ ;)], two months prior to the release!!!

Yay.  ;D

So what do, the ones who already have it that is, think of it?

I think it's a killer album. As i already mentioned, better than Presets.
Best tracks for now, because i keep on singing them, are Follow Me, King Porn and God Of Rubbish.

This is what I said a few days ago in the Now Playing Thread and I will repeat it here, since I still feel the same way:

It's great! My only minor complaint is that the vocals are a bit too dramatic at times. For example at the end of the first track. I can't really stand them (yet) to be honest but maybe it's just that I need to get used to them a bit more. I do like the somewhat heavier direction the band seems to have taken very much. It makes the music that little bit more intense. Also, the female vocals in Midnight Sun are heart-wrenching, they give me chills.

All in all this album has a lot of potential and I'm looking forward to listening to this album over and over again in the coming days/weeks/months.

Hey folks,

I've been thinking of picking up a Sylvan album, but I'm very much a novice with them.  Would you recommend the new one as a good place to start or some other album?
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Iggy

I am still waiting for my postman to deliver it.

I have 3 other cd's of theirs which I enjoy but haven't played enough.

Man, the best way to start is either Artificial Paradise and/or Posthumous Silence.
The latter has a story behind it, a concept which is a bit tough but when you get into it and delve yourself into the emotion and the melody of all the songs, you come to realise that you've just found a gem.

Force Of Gravity is good though, quite rougher than the other albums, yet some songs are as fragile as some parts of PS for instance.
Very good album i'd say.  8)
