Double vision - It has arrived!
« on: Wed, 2018-05-09, 00:17:39 »
Hi! Long time, no see. I just want to tell you I have listened once through the whole thing, and it is magnificent! Paul Manzi has, incredibly, gotten even better since last time. I did not think that was possible, and neither was it necessary, but wow...

The songs sound like they're of superb quality. Brilliant and promising and happily a bit weird at times. I will be "digging deep"...

In ten days or so, I will be seeing the band live for the first time.

Cheers to the band and all the fans!!

Thanks for the welcome back's! 😅

I will try to make it to the second show in Norway as well, the day after. But the south is partially under water. All the snow melting in the sudden heat, boosted by rain, has made a mess of many roads. We'll see. It is on my way back to the north, and it would be nice to see them a second time. If it looks like I am going to reach it, I will buy the VIP thing as well. (Not an option for the first night, for some reason).

And yes, the album is absolutely amazing! Clive & Co. just get better at writing songs, all the time.

It's so great to see all these old members again! Arena have made a wonderful album. I think it's at least the best Manzi album! I love it already!

Indeed, it's good to be back. And to me, this might be the best Arena album ever. I already thought "... separation" might be the best. "... sky" had a few minutes too many of neutral, a bit nondescript material, but the best 65% of it certainly topped almost everything. To me, Manzi is the first singer that represents a great asset, a point of interest, or a source of goosebumps. The others have been, on balance, ok. Definitely a few nice passages here and there, that lifted the song, but also the odd part where severe limitations became obvious.

I appreciate Manzi the way my old man appreciated Pavarotti. There is a profound pleasure in hearing a singer do things you just know is not within reach for anyone's neighbour.

Double vision is largely made up of SONGS, as good as the best SONGS on previous albums. (Friday's dream, What if, The eyes of Lara Moon, Crying for help VIII, How did it come to this, etc.) Even the epic is essentially a composition of several brilliant SONGS.

I love it. And now, after more than a thousand miles and a couple of nights' rest, we will start driving even further south, because tonight is the night!! 😎
