Listened to:

Dukes Of The Orient - "Dukes Of The Orient"

This, along with Magnum's "Lost On The Road To Eternity", is providing me my 2018's AOR fix.
I really like John Payne's voice, and 'his sound'. I'm still looking for a copy of Asia's "Silent Nation". I always thought it was pretty good, but somehow I never got around to buy it. Back then I saw a limited edition for only 10 euros but there was so much good stuff coming out at that time, so I went with something else instead. And now it's not even on Spotify!!
Same goes for GPS's "Window To The Soul" actually, although that one IS on Spotify.

I'm aware that Dukes Of The Orient is a continuation of Asia Featuring John Payne, but now that John Wetton passed away, and I mean this respectfully, is it not logical to get everyone back together and pick up where they left off after "Silent Nation"? It's not like Geoff Downes is doing anything in Yes anyway...

Dukes Of The Orient - "Dukes Of The Orient"
Great album. Don't know if I wrote it before here, but gor me it's like a dream coming true. Love Erik Norlander's keyboard parts. Own a number of his solo albums and Rocket Scientist albums. And I have all Asia studio albums, both John Wetton and John Payne era. The wait was (way too) long, but totally worth it. One of my favourite 2018 releases.

Yeah, I still have to find out more about Erik Norlander and his bands. I have to say I got a little confused after the Erik vs Arjen quarrel, so I never invested my time and money in his projects. Although obviously I love is contributions on Ayreon.

Satellite - Nostalgia

Oh wow, Satellite! Yeah, it's been a while since I listened to them. Still only have "Evening Games", but I think it's a minor masterpiece of Neo-Prog! Like it a lot!

I've just finished listening to:
Brighteye Brison - "Believers & Deceivers"

Must have been ten years since I listened to this. With my ever growing knowledge (*ahem..*) of Prog, I have to say this album sounds a lot like Yes, Spock's Beard and more alike.
I think I have to put them back on my list of bands to discover.

His solo albums 'Into The Sunset' and 'Music Machine' are great. And I do love the Rocket Scientist albums, 'Oblivion Days' being my favourite. A certain 'A.A.L.' plays a guitar solo on one song and rhythm guitar on a number of tracks ;).

I own 'Evening Games', 'A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset' and 'Nostalgia'. The first two I mentioned are my favourites, great music! 'Nostalgia' and 'Into The Night' don't reach that high level anymore.

np: Wolverine - Cold Light Of Monday

On Spotify, first time I heard this album. Some beautiful songs on it. Have to listen to it again ...

I still have to buy it, but for me this is a highly anticipated album as well. Love all the Asia stuff but the Payne era in particular (Aria - Arena - Aura is a marvellous string of albums), also the GPS album. Rather ugly how he was kicked out, even though I understand they wanted to resurrect the old line up. The Dukes album has been a long time in the making, first announced as Architects of Time, then Americana. I had almost given up on it, but here it is finally! Intend to go to the gig in October as well. Paco you can get the GPS album 2nd hand @Progoutlet for 7 euros, maybe Silent Nation also turns up at some point: http://progoutlet.nl/prod01.htm

NP Flower Kings - The Sum of no evil

Before played: Habitants - One Self
Excellent debut album of new band with the guitarist of the Gathering. Saw their first ever live gig last week, when they were supporting The Gathering. Both support and main act were really great and I had not seen The Gathering live since 2012 so it was a real nostalgia trip.

Yesterday I listened to Peter Gabriel's "Up" and thought it was really good. This is his last real studio album right? Not counting "Scratch My Back" and "New Blood" which are a covers album and some sort of best of. I've never really looked into his discography properly, but "Up" makes me feel excited enough to dive in.

Mike Oldfield - "Incantations"
Bit of an odd one this. Are there even any devoted Oldfield fans here?

Talk about goosebumps.
I've seen the recent dvd and I'm totally into this album again. It's already two years ago!!

By the way, Teunis, have you read the book that it is based on, by any chance?

Not at all. The dvd is only out for less than a month. I just happen to have it earlier because of the Neal Morse gig in Utrecht where I could buy it.
It IS a very nice dvd though.

Still, I'm looking forward to the Morsefest dvd, where they also played "Similitude..." but also "Testimony Two" including the "Seeds Of Gold" song, which is one of my favourites.

Southern Empire - "Civilisation"

Wow! Great music. I'm interested in attending the gig of Damanek and this band will co-headline the evening. Pretty cool stuff. It's heavier than Damanek but there are similarities. Both remind me of The Tangent. But Southern Empire also reminds me of Karmakanic and Haken. What a strange mix. But very nice!!
