I even think of buying some of the highly rated albums that I still don't have, mainly Testimony 2 and Momentum.
Both  8) indeed!

Extremely good!  *horns* *horns* *horns*
Reminds me of Anathema but also a bit like Anubis.

NP Leprous- The Congregation

Listening to it on YT after some unexpected research/reading/listening about the band (I still don't know what led me to this, actually). Now I can understand all the talking in the Room and Teunis playing it so often. Though I am not completely convinced -it still reminds me too much of Anathema (on steroïds) or Muse (trying to purposely alienate half of its fan base)- but I surely will investigate further. From the bits that I heard, Coal could be a good place to start, I hear more Circus Maximus than Anathema there  :)

Good to see this band getting more love here in the room. There is definitely something of every band you just mentioned. I also want to add Devin Townsend and Haken to the list. I still need to listen to the earlier albums, but their last two albums are excellent!

Yeah, nice album. I also hear a bit of Blind Ego/RPWL in it ;).

NP: Anderson/Stolt - "Invention Of Knowledge" (on Spotify)

Wow, pretty good! Reminds me of early (1970-1975) Yes and The Flower Kings/Transatlantic.

Nicky, as far as I heard, there's no Roine vocals. And Jon really sounds *horns*

Nicky007

Thanx, Paxi, I'll give it a run when I'm in the mood for that sorta stuff ....

NP Kvist: Various pieces on Spotify

I met a young fellow yesterday out in the wonderful Swedish summerland who was hot on early Norwegian black metal. He recomended Kvist to me - had never heard about'm. Not quite my thingy, I'm more into later black metal, but interesting.

Afterwards I'll give BBT another run, since you guys are enthusing so much over'm .... :)

NP  BBT:  English Electric: Full Power

Clicked more this time *horns*

I reckoned that an album with this title would be more my thingy than Folklore ;)

Reminds me most of SB and Tangent, also Yes, Beardfish, Mike Oldfield.

I'm now listening to:

Dream Theater's The Twelve Step-Suite songs, (while enjoying a very fine wine!).

I can't ignore the fact that I like The Glass Prison, This Dying Soul and The Root Of All Evil very much. These songs are favourites on their respective albums. Repentance and The Shattered Fortress however, are my least favourites of those albums...

Yeah, but "Folklore" is really good too! Both parts of "English Electric" are perfect, and I think these are their masterpieces.

Just finished playing:
Big Big Big Train - "Folklore"

I enjoy this album so much. Something has to happen soon, or this is probably going to be my favourite album of the year! ;D

Now playing:
Magic Pie - "Circus Of Life"

Also very enjoyable! This was/is among my favourites of 2007. It sounds like The Flower Kings, Spock's Beard and sometimes Dream Theater. But not Transatlantic... ::)
Not many people here, who listen to Magic Pie, I guess.

JP:
Yes - "Tales From Topographic Oceans"
First two 'songs' (or the first 40 minutes) are really nice. After that, it's not that consistent. But overall I like it!

A.C.T - "Circus Pandemonium"
Wow, this album still amazes me. A.C.T really made progress. I can only imagine what their sixth album (which will probably be released in 2023) will sound like!

NP:
Opeth - "Pale Communion"
Even my dad likes this one! ;) He listens to it once in a while.

PH

Tuomas Holopainen - "The Life And Times Of Scrooge"

Hello everyone  :D

Yesterday I listened to Ghost reveries by Opeth for the first time in a bit. Defo my favourite of their albums
Today it was Target Earth by Voivod which is another solid album by one of the most interesting , challenging progressive bands over the last 30 years. Not their best but pretty damn good anyway.

The Syn - "Trustworks"

Years ago, The Syn eventually more or less evolved into early Yes. Chris Squire and Peter Banks were both in The Syn. Later, other Yes members were involved in the resurrection of The Syn.
This album however is Steve Nardelli (the only original member) backed up by Moon Safari! And it sounds pretty good!
