Yes, Bupie, you're right. This IS good stuff! Reminds me of the usual influences (Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd and also The Tangent, Transatlantic, etc.).
I'll keep on listening!

Hey, I got 50 pages into The Count of Monte-Christo, looked up each and every word - you guys know me - I could take a PhD in French maritime vocabulary now :o

Christ O est extraordinaire, stupéfiant, incroyable, étonnante - Thanx to Wordreference.com ;)

JP  Patrick Moraz:  Out In The Sun

This is an album that I listened a lot to some 30 years ago. It holds out surprisingly well, altho rather uneven; the first song, Out In The Sun, and Rana Batucada (sic), and the suite Love-Hate-Sun-Rain-You are superb *horns*

Lotta Latino rhythms.

Patrick is best known for his keys on the Yes-album Relayer. Twas no easy collaboration; he was very happy to get outta the Yes-fold ;)

NP  Eagles of Death Metal:  Heart On

First listen. Has nothin to do with death metal. Another of Josh Homme's zany projects. Sounds a lot like QOTSA, very melodic and satirical. Let's see ....

Just 50 pages?  :o
I read the whole book. ;)

NP> Flying Colors ~ Second Nature

Some great tunes on this album.
The first track (Open Your Eyes (Nicolas  :P) reminds me a lot of Transatlantic, though it ends rather abruptly, Mask Machine (tr. 2) and Bombs Away are great as well but the best two songs are at the end of the album, Peaceful Harbor and Cosmic Symphony.
The first Flying Colors album was great but this one is even better.

You don't want to hear me talking in French. ;)

Are you one of those annoying people who read aloud for themselves, and disturb everyone else in the room ?

The only real Monte Cristo is the one written by Dumas - in French! Every translation involves an extra author, namely the translator, except for the very few cases where they are the same person. A good translator stays close to the (original) author's intent, but still cannot avoid adding his or her own mustard.

For the true intellectual precision is a high priority ;)

Actually, I sometimes do, only when I read English.
Good for the pronouncing-skills. ;)
But... only when I'm solely alone in any kind of room. ;)

True, but that goes for any kind of book, translated in any kind of language.
I tend to read books in English and when I really like the book I read I also read it in Dutch.
It then becomes painfully clear that there either are bad Dutch-translators or they only translate on a Monday morning.

For instance, when you look at the Century-trilogy by Ken Follet, Fall of Giants (the first part, Val der Titanen) is rightfully translated.
With the second part it goes wrong because Winter of the World is roughly translated as Night of the Evil (Nacht van het Kwaad) and the third part is even worse.
Edge of Eternity becomes Cold from the East (Kou uit het Oosten) translated in Dutch.
I could live with the fact that the translation-errors would end with the titles but the books itself are written in such way that you get a different feeling about the book then when you had when you first read it in its original.

I agree that read the book in its original language is the best way to fully understand the words of the author.

But since I don't read and speak French, I had to settle with the English translation. ;)

I read Monte Cristo in French in order to improve my French.

Ever thought of that, Maddy ? ;)

Will continue beyond the first 50 pages .... :)

Can't get enuff of this *m*zing band *horns*

Mad, why the f* aint you listenin to'm ;)

JP  Saturnian:  Dimensions

Ditto *horns*

Just writing up an Amazon review of this album - look later.

While yer at it, check up my review of KoK's Epistemology too ;)

NP  Satyricon:  Self-titled

Their latest album. Long had this band in mind, but only got around to buying an album by'm recently. First listen, positive surprise: While some of it is rather doomy (not quite my taste), it's surprisingly varied, and really has a lot to offer.

I'll definitely be getting more albums by this exciting band :)

This song I promise you will be buzzing around yer head *horns*

Funny, reminds me of the Danish group Sort Sol :)

Just finished playing:
Moon Safari - "Himlabacken, Volume 1"

Now playing:
Marillion - "Holidays In Eden"

Both albums give me a summer feeling!
Actually, I'm very much looking forward to the next Moon Safari album. "Himlabacken, Volume 1" is one of the better 2013 releases for me.

Wonderful! So glad to have discovered this band two years back!

This morning I had to start working at 5:00... So I listened to Big Big Train's "English Electric" both parts. Still amazes me. Sounds a lot like what Genesis should have sounded like. And now I'm sitting in the garden listening to It Bites' "Once Around The World". Which also sounds a bit like Genesis at times.
