I've found myself listening to the new Kamelot album.
It's called "Haven" and it's pretty good! Heavy and catchy.
It's the second album with Tommy Karevik (Seventh Wonder, Ayreon) and it's actually the first Kamelot album that I bought.
I remember having listened to "The Black Halo" in 2005 (when I was discovering Prog, what a wonderful time) and liking some of it. Actually I was impressed, but I was not ready for the Metal in my Prog.
Now I am, and this album ("Haven") is really good!

Bupie

Interesting that you like Kamelot ... but I still hope a new Seventh Wonder will come out someday for I find them way more thrilling than Kamelot.

NP Arena - The Visitor

An all-time top 10 (if not even higher) contender in the neo-prog genre, for sure  *horns*

A little reminder there http://www.dprp.net/proghistory/index.php?i=1998_01

Kamelot - "Haven"

This album is incredibly catchy! I've already become acquinted with the first half of the album. And these songs won't get out of my head. The rest of the album is not bad either!
I read this review on Progwereld (it's in Dutch) and I agree with the writer. You will be surprised. I know I was.

Definitely in my top 10 for 2015.

PH

Kaipa - "Vittjar"

Kaipa is really consistent with their albums. This album from 2012 is (of course) really good. Stylistically they don't evolve much, but their music is always good and totally Kaipa.

I totally agree with that. :)

I did also like their previous album, but this one is even beter.

The Tangent - "A Spark In The Aether"

Had my second listen this morning and it sounds good! They've gone back a bit to the earlier sound. This album is a sequel to their very first album.

JP  Arena:  The Unquiet Sky

Duly impressed, another great masterpiece by our house band *horns*

What I find particularly exceptional about Arena is Clive's lyrics, he and Byron share my first prize 8)

JP  Kyuss:  Welcome to Sky Valley

This album is registered at Wikipedia as "stoner rock, neo-psychedelia, desert rock" :o and thus I didn't expect much of it, but surprise: it's really really good *horns*

Guess anything that Josh Homme is involved in - a bit like with Mike Patton - is worth checkin out 8)

NP  Keep of Kalessin:  Epistemology

Still my most played album, it has so much to offer *horns*

Tom, have you listened more to it ?

I've found myself listening to the new Kamelot album.

I bought Ghost Opera when it was released in 2007, and I was so impressed that I ended up buying all Kamelot's nine studio albums up to Poetry for the Poisoned (the last one with Khan) plus their impressive live album One Cold Winter's Night *horns*

Got my fill of Kamelot for a while, but I'll definitely return to'm, see how it works out with Tommy K as frontman :)

Today I played The Tangent's "A Spark In The Aether" again. I had so much fun with it!
Also listened to The Neal Morse Band's "The Grand Experiment". 2015 is already a good year for me!

Again:
The Tangent - "A Spark In The Aether"

And also:
Glass Hammer - "The Breaking Of The World"

I'd like to see Yes making a new album with this line-up.

Just finished Yes - "Talk"

And now I'm listening to silence, which can be nice once in a while.

You were sceptical for quite a long time ;)

NP> Arcturus ~ Arcturian

Also nice to see some metal activity here ;)

Mad, how does Arcturian compare with the superb Sideshow Symphonies ?

NP  Keep of Kalessin:  Kolossus

Also this album is tremendous *horns*

KoK really do it for me, one of my current top-3 bands 8)

The Gentle Storm - The Diary

Played both the 'Gentle' and the 'Storm' version several times. Prefer the heavier 'Storm' version, while my wife has a preference for the 'Gentle' one ;).

Don't really know yet.
They claim that Arcturian is in the line of Sideshow Symphonies but I don't fully agree.
Music wise it's a bit of a let down, the songs are not so complex as Sideshows and The Sham Mirrors.
Overall the songs are not bad but I feel like that everytime I listen to the album, I got that feeling that things are about to happen but they rarely do.
The climax that doesn't come. ;)
Maybe that last is a bad expression.  :-[ ;D

Leprous - "Coal"

Hmm... Right now, I prefer "Coal", but it was one of my biggest surprises of 2013. But by all means, their new album is not bad at all.

Nicky, have you listened to this band?

Nicky, have you listened to this band?

Yes, I have (you'll find'm in my "Other groups ..."), but they haven't gripped me (yet) to pantheon level.

NP  Family:  Fearless

This is a band that I experienced twice or thrice at festivals in Copenhagen around 1970. They quite gripped me, in part because of the singer Roger Chapman's extraordinary raspy voice.

Admittedly they don't sound quite as good today, sorta like Traffic, but not as good.

NP Vanden Plas - Beyond Daylight

I love this album. But since, on further exploration, I enjoyed neither Far Off Grace nor The God Thing, I gave up with them. Any tip for a new try ? I know that Nicky was fond of Christ O but I guess that it is because he really digs French literature  :)
