pp: IQ - The Road Of Bones

Arena - "The Unquiet Sky"

Still figuring it all out. But most of the album makes perfect sense!
Definitely gonna be in the top five this year.

Played earlier: Arena - "The Unquiet Sky" (again)
I don't think it tops "Contagion" or "The Visitor", but that's not necessary and not even fair. Those albums are not only my favourite Arena albums, but belong to the best albums that I know of.
But it's definitely better than "The Seventh Degree Of Seperation" and brings back a lot of Arena that I thought was missing in T7DoS. In a way it's better than "Pepper's Ghost" too. I really like PG, but that album is not as cohesive as TUS. I think TUS reminds me the most of "Immortal?". Yeah, that makes sense to me.

Just played: Muse - "Black Holes And Revelations"
This band really could make a bridge between Pop/Rock and Prog. I wonder what their new album will do.

Now playing: Satellite - "Evening Games"
The first track (title track) is really good. The rest is not bad either. Are there any Satellite fans around here? Does the band still exist?

Yeah, me. Own their 4 studio albums and the DVD 'Evening Dreams'. Don't know if the band still exists. A few members started up the band 'Collage' again, don't know if this means the end of 'Satellite'. Collage is still touring and writes about 'work in progress' on their Facebook account.

Ah yes, I've read that too. And Collage was much more popular of course.
What do you think of these four albums by Satellite?

If I had to make a favourite list:
1. Evening Games
2. A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset
3. Nostalgia
4. Into The Night

Really dig the first two albums, the third album 'Into The Night' was such a disappointment. Nostalgia is slightly better, but not at the same level of album 1 and 2 IMHO.

Thanks! That makes perfect sense to me. Because when I discovered this band, I liked "Evening Games" better than "A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset" and was looking forward to the third, but was disappointed too. So I never really tried "Nostalgia". So now I'm going to investigate further and "A Street Between Sunrise And Sunset" is next on the list.

When listening to Arena, 55 minutes are gone fast.
I'm really liking the new album!
I was tempted to give it yet another spin, but instead opted for:
Lunatic Soul - "Walking On A Flashlight Beam"

Teunis

pp: Nosound - Lightdark (in DTS)
jp: Arena - The Unquiet Sky
np: Grand Tour - Heavy On The Beach (Scottish neoprog band with Joe Cairney from Comedy Of Errors on vocals. Recommended to fans of e.g. IQ, Comedy Of Errors, Mystery. Now on Progstreaming.com. Like it!)

Kaipa - "Sattyg"
This album (released last year) is instantly likeable to me. So I think it's better than "Vittjar", their previous album (2012). It seems there are more (and stronger) recognisable melodies.

Huis - "Despite Guardian Angels"
A real Neo-Prog album, with the big bombastic choirs and sweeping synths. I love it!

OK, you convinced me to order this one so I just did it. But I remind you that in return you promised to try Karmakanic  ;)

NP Sonata Arctica - Silence     Great album and a must-have in its genre (speed/power metal)  *horns*
