What's it like Mad? Building An Empire still is one of my alltime favourite albums. And then came Mute, I was full of anticipation.......... and then I didn't really like it. ;D So, should I give Mercury a chance?

I think it's best to give Mute a second chance since that one is a real grower.
Didn't like it at first but I now believe it's just as good as Building an Empire.

Their new one. ... better give Mute a second chance. ... for now. ;)

Know what I mean?  :-\

I definitely do! :)
From the first tunes of Aquarius, their first album, I knew that I would really like this band and that feeling only grew. :)
There are only three tracks on this EP so the playing time is rather short but that's why they invented the repeat button. ;)
Even Mike Portnoy (who? lol) is quite a fan of the band, that's why he participated on the last track the epic Christalissed (see if you can spot his presence in the song.  :P ;D)

It seems you can only get this as an LP? :o Or as a digital download...
I want a cd...

I agree with you there Paco. I recently listened to every Arena studioalbum and to be honest The Seventh Degree of Separation is in the lower regions if I would rank the albums. It hasn't aged very well with me. It's nice, it's decent, the playing is great, but it's just not a special album (to me) like Contagion or Immortal?. That's not to say it's a bad album - not at all - it's just that Arena themselves have set the standard pretty high. Let's see what they come up with next...

I do feel the need to say that Burning Down is among Arena's best tracks. Such an awesome song.  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Okay then, I'm still tempted to give Mercury a chance though, but for now...

Nope, nothing proggy but I always really liked this band.
Have quite a few albums of the band and do play them from time to time.
The Sport of Kings is one of my favorites but albums like Just a Game, Allied Forces and Thunder Seven are also good albums.
Wouldn't call it AOR though.
It's more hard rock that AOR, which is usually a bit more radio friendlier than hard rock.
Nice that you know this band, Mad. The AOR tag is aimed to TSOK, the previous albums belonging more to the hard rock category indeed.

I'm not overly fond on this album but I have to say it's growing on me - somewhat.

NP: Dave Kerzner - New World
Sounds a great deal like Sound of Contact, which is no surprise since Dave was very active in the writing of that album as well. Then he left SoC and now he is here with his solo-album. I like this album very much. I'm playing it constantly and I'm still hearing new things with each listen.

Neal Morse - Send The Fire

How are his worship CDs? I only have his prog and pop/rock CDs.

Ok, I'm listening to Huis' "Despite Guardian Angels" again to see if it still belongs on my wish list.
Well, to be honest, it doesn't.
It belongs on my cd shelf!
It's as if Arena secretly reunited with John Carson. Well, no, it's not exactly that. It's more like as if this was a parallel version of Arena or something. And they remind me of something else. Don't know exactly what though.
What does it remind you of, Teunis?

Now I only need to find it for a bit more friendly price than 26 euros...

Decent album.
It reminds me a lot of some Polish bands, like Collage, Sattelite and Moonrise.

Those subtle elements of the Netherlands is quite funny.
Who would've guess that when you listen to a track called Beyond the Amstel (Dutch river) and Oude Kerk, it actually is a Canadian band instead of a Dutch?

Personally I think that this is an album that will be great one moment but you'll forget about it after a few months, which is a shame.
It is too recognizable, not a thrilling album.

It is very keyboard oriented. It reminds me of the Dutch neoprog band 'Silhouette'. Also an other Canadian band comes to mind: 'Mystery'.

Pure singer/songwriter stuff. It's in the vain of the 'Songs From November' album. You have to be in the right mood for it Don't expect prog and you'll hear many 'praise the Lord' lyrics. I don't mind being a Christian myself :). I really liked the album.
