NP: Electric Light Orchestra - Greatest Hits

ELO is pantheon with me  *horns*

They often did get syrupy, but they also rocked and were groundbreaking like hell  8)

The first ELO song that registered with me was Rockaria! - it swept me overboard ! So I got the album A New World Record right away, and there were the fabulous Tightrope, Livin' Thing, Telephone Line, man, all the songs were tremendous. I think I wore the vinyl out, I played this album again and again, I simply couldnt get enuff of it  :)

Then came Out Of The Blue and Discovery, also crazily good albums !

Imo this was the golden period for ELO, 1976-80, the music was fresh, spontaneous, melodic, and it rocked like crazy ! So these are the albums to get, Greenie  ;)

I'm switching these days between Monuments' Gnosis, Stealing Axion's Moments, and André Andersen's Black On Black. The first two are cutting-edge djent/metalcore, and they'r real great, but after about an hour of mayhem, I need somethin melodic and close (to me), and then I put on André's wonderful album. Btw he's got a singer on it, Ian Parry, super as usual with André - strange I'v never heard of him  8)

I experienced Monuments and Stealing Axion at Temple of Doom, terrific concerts  *horns*

Shakin' Street - 21st Century Love Channel

A French metal band that was trying a return with this -good- album after a few years of glory (including some touring with BÖC, AC/DC or Black Sabbath) back in ... hum, let's forget the dates  :P

Teunis

Kamelot - Silverthorn
Lunatic Soul - Lunatic Soul II

And yeah, also ELO fan 8)

How is this one ? I saw the video for their new single and it was rather a letdown. I found both the song and the video so predictable that it gave me the feeling that they have completely run out of ideas  :P

PP Cheap Trick - Cheap Trick
JF Cheap Trick - In Color
NP Cheap Trick - Heaven Tonight

Revisiting CP's back catalog :  I was not impressed 30 years before and this rediscovery doesn't change things much. Of course, it is impossible to deny the catchy label with a big C to songs like Surrender or I want You To Want Me but they don't pave the way to standout albums in my book.

In fact, Out of the Blue was the first rock album I ever purchased (followed by two Kansas albums --  I guess I was a proggie very young, although I didn't realize it at the time.)

NP: Jadis - See Right Through You

First try, on progstreaming.

You're right. Although I've read several positive reviews, I'm not impressed. Heard it once and deleted it ;).

The Jam - The Gift
Still revisiting very old albums. This one too disappointed me when it was released. It paled in comparison to its stunning predecessor Sound Affects but you can give credit to The Jam for being innovative and taking risks with this soul/funk/pop outing. Today, I appreciate it much more although some songs were and still are way too funky for me, especially Precious and Trans-Global Express. On the other hand, you get some jewels like Happy Together, Ghosts, Carnation or 5 O'Clock Hero. So I have no problem to recommend it but, for those new to this band, I would not start there.

Kamelot ~ Silverthorn

Wow!!
Poetry for the Poisoned was a return to form but this album is even better!!
Tom's the man!  *horns*
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Bupie

Poetry a return to form  :o ? I think I will politely disagree.

About Silverthorn, it seems that Teunis and you have different views. Another opinion, someone ?

Well, it's no secret that I didn't like Ghost Opera, but in my opinion Poetry was a class album, not as good as The Black Halo and Epica but still quite good.
This new album is reaching those standards if you ask me.
Like I said, there's nothing new under the sun but the songs are pretty good nevertheless.
Add that with the covals of Tom (Seventh Wonder) and you have a damn good album.  *horns*

But, as always... in my opinion. ;)
Each to his own.  8)
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Of course  ;)

On the last Threshold album, there was nothing new under the sun neither and it is my favorite of theirs. So ...

My main concern about Kamelot is that I would be terribly disappointed with Tommy Karevik leaving SW. So I hope that it will not happen ...

Funny you say that.
I have all the Mac-era Threshold album so this was actually the first with Damian on vox.
Somehow it reminded me more of Headspace then Threshold. Obviously this has got to do with Damian.
It's a good album though. Quit like it.

My hope as well.
Tommy is a great singer and suits the music of SW so well.  *horns*
