Yesterday I got a mail that the new Muse album was on its way to me, but unfortunately no delivery today. Played an other one this afternoon:
Muse - Absolution

jp: Asia - Arena

np: Wolverine - Communication Lost  8)
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'
-------------------------------------------------------
Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

PH

Dream Theater - "When Dream And Day Unite"

One of the albums I play not much at all.
Musically it's actually really good. But Charlie's vocals are a real let down. He sounds like he wants to be Geddy Lee. But it doesn't feel right...

Still, I think I need to listen to this album a bit more. There's a lot things going on. I think it's much heavier than "Images And Words".

This album is a real winner!!
It always gets the consolation price. ;)

NP> Dream Theater ~ Octavarium
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

I'm now listening to Bjørn Lynne's music, through his website.

This is nice electronica stuff. Too bad it's in low bitrate streaming mode.

NP  Royal Hunt:  Paradox  &  Moving Target

Let's see what these early RH albums with DC are like .....  8)

np: Marillion - Sounds That Can't Be Made (they never seem to convince me :-\)

I am listening to Gaza at the moment, thanks to http://www.musicwaves.fr/  From what I read, it is supposed to be one of the best songs of Sounds. Don't know yet about the song as a whole but it has indeed a nice guitar solo. Far from enough to make me eager to buy the album, though  :P

PH

I also listened to the new Marillion album (only once, I must add) and coudn't help but find Gaza really boring...
Actually, there's not one song that made me want to listen to the album again.
Still, I have to, because I want to give it the fair treatment and Marillion has made me a happy boy in the past.

PH

Instead, I'm listening to Ritual's "The Hemulic Voluntary Band".
A very impressive piece of work. If it wasn't for Neal Morse, Porcupine Tree and Magic Pie, this would have been the number one of 2007.
Their epic A Dangerous Journey is one of the best (and most unusual) epics in my cd collection.

Anyone who likes this album? They don't get mentioned that much here in the Room...

Exactly my thought. If I remember correctly, after about 13 minutes I heard the first interesting part. I'm giving up on them now, enough other music to enjoy ;).

just: Asia - Aura
now: Toto - Absolutely Live cd 1
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Yes me. But I only have a double live and the one you just played.

I played Weather Systems again today and unless something fantastic is released in the next couple of months will be my CD of the year although I do love March of Ghosts as well.

Steve Jones

Steely Dan - Gaucho

Just downloaded the Hi-Def version from the Linn Records site, and it makes the regular CD sound like a cassette :o
A shame that so little rock music is available in a HD format in the UK.

Yes, it is the moment when the guitar solo begins. I would not be so harsh on the song but I would like to hear something more uplifting or at least something less wailing than what I hear from Marillion for a decade or more. Maybe Steve H could try an electroshok therapy or something in that genre ...

NP Ultravox - Vienna

I keep coming back to this album. Maybe THE new wave album if I had to choose one ...

8) album and the 2012 Ultravox album 'Brilliant' seems to be brilliant too. Haven't heard it yet though.

np: Muse - The 2nd Law

2nd spin, already liking it *horns*

Just played it on youtube to decide wether or not it was worth the buy. It sure is. I'll get it some time soon.
Let your conscience decide !

Steve Jones

Camel - Rajaz

Awesome album. But then, having finally gotten around to replacing my computer speakers with something decent (an old pair of the tiny Linn Kans courtesy of eBay) everything is sounding fresh and wonderful at the moment!

The Urbane - "Neon"

The guitar player is really good actually! :P

By far no Progressive Rock masterpiece, but pretty catchy stuff anyway.
I love Aeroplanes, Loop, Immaculate, Neon, The Tide.

Steve Jones

Spock's Beard - The Kindness of Strangers

I think today might have a high Spock's content *horns*

A marvelous choice, sir Jones!!!  *horns*

JP> Galahad ~ Battle Scars
NP> Galahad ~ Beyond the Realms of Euphoria

Both are good though I like the new album (Euphoria) a tad bit more.
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Spock's Beard - Day for Night

Still in a Spock's mood here 8)

Manatee

The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute

a little wakey-wakey music
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Manatee

Magnum - On the 13th Day

another on progstreaming... A bit light on the proginess, I'd say, but good tuneful rock.
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

PH

I'm singing along to Neal Morse's "Sola Scriptura" :P
Just finished both The Door and The Conflict and now taking a little break to have a drink. And then the other two songs.

What a very good album! I rate it a tiny bit higher than "Momentum" at the moment.
