New interesting releases on progstreaming.com. First I tried the new Quidam album, but after a few minutes I stopped ....... the lyrics are in Polish, can't get used to that ::).

Then I tried the new Harvest album 'Chasing Time'. Was pleasantly surprised. Some tracks reminded me of the Arjen Lucassen project 'Ambeon'. I'll give it a few more listenings for sure.

Ultravox - Vienna

This album is huge. It's in my top 5 of the whole New Wave period but it could rank n° 1 if I had to think of a ranking. Of course, I don't expect to convert anybody to a 32 years old album belonging to a non prog genre. But still ...  :D

After a couple of decades (!) of inactivity, Ultravox's new album came out this week and is receiving harsh reviews but I am still tempted to buy it. The problem is that I don't consider any of their post-Vienna albums as a masterpiece, even if I rather like Rage In Eden (beautiful title for an album by the way). But I know me, I am a sinner, I can't resist to temptation  :)

Discipline - To Shatter all Accord

Fantastic!

Good to see someone else enjoying them (I saw Iggy is too).  I'm really enjoying their prior album too now, and I may go ahead and get their first.

Just checked yer LP (the first post). I can pretty much subscribe to all of it - altho my LP is somewhat longer  :-[

Noted that you wrote:  "Led Zeppelin (Houses of the Holy, 4th album – really could pick any of them)"

I gather that you regard Zep as one of the biggies. I'd be curious to know where you'd place them at rock's top ?

Yeah, I guess I should update my LP some more.  It's a tricky process for many reasons.

I'd say Zep is one of the top few hard rock bands of all time.  I'd place them at a similar level to The Who.  Zep was more consistent IMO, but The Who did Quadrophenia, which rates very high on my list of albums.  As to rating Zep among all rock bands, that's harder to say (as it would be for any band).  There are so many bands to choose from, with a vast range of styles.  It's hard to compare.  Certainly they're essential to have in one's collection IMO, but I don't think I'd place them at #1 of all bands if you put a gun to my head and made me choose (not sure who I would choose instead though).  As always, musical categories are questionable at best, but I think I would call them the best blues-rock band ever.

Recently played:

Anathema - Alternative 4
The Mars Volta - De-loused in the Comatorium
Blind Ego - Mirror
Agents of Mercy - The Black Forest
Sylvan - Posthumous Silence
Discipline. - Unfolded Like Staircase

NP: Opeth - Heritage

Alternative 4: I'm beginning to notice some nice detail here.  Perhaps it's a grower.
De-loused:  I'm really getting into this one.  It's crazy, but it rocks, and there's a lot to notice on repeated plays.
Mirror: I've lived with this one for quite a while now.  I like it -- some songs a lot, but it's not quite "great" in my eyes.
The Black Forest: One of my progstreaming finds.  Really enjoy this album.  Probably my favorite Roine Stolt project so far.
Posthumous Silence: Still struggling with this one.  It's got some good parts, but it's yet to click for me.
Unfolded Like Staircase:  Equally as good as To Shatter All Accord IMO (It's a grower.)  I've raved about these guys enough though.

Heritage: This one is falling into place nicely.  It definitely does help to play it at high volume since the nuances of the quiet parts are hard to catch otherwise.
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Anathema  Eternity

This is a real grower , like a lot of their music , so for that reason i am in
