Last Tuesday I was at my brother's home, and I found out (to my surprise) that he had bought this very album! He loves it. Yet, he doesn't like all the other Progressive artists...

You should be happy about that, Paxi. Maybe he just needs something more lively and metal than H-Marillion and IQ (just like me). Kamelot are one of the most exciting prog bands around, and Khan is an amazing singer (Norwegian, with an exceptional sense of the English language). Tell him to backcatalog. The previous album, Ghost Opera is actually relatively close to Poetry For The Poisoned, one could say "narrative metal". Further back it gets more regular metal, altho Kamelot always have their very special sound.

Oh, and btw, maybe you should listen to some Kamelot  ;)

NP  Supertramp:  Crisis? What Crisis?

An old classic that I listened to masses in those years yonder, my first encounter with Supertramp, that metaphorically speaking dumped into my mailbox. Still holds  *horns*

NP  Disillusion:  Back To Times Of Splendor

A very busy and demanding metal album, pleasing and exciting after some listens  *horns*

If I remember correctly, Tom is into them, and we'v discussed'm once before in the Room  :)

Interesting, here's what Lance King, metal singer and CEO of Nightmare Records writes about Anubis Gate's Andromeda Unchained:

FREAKING OFF THE HOOK WORTHY, September 25, 2009

By L. King "Lance King - Vocalist in Metal and CEO..." (Minneapolis / St. Paul, MN USA) - See all my reviews

This review is from: Andromeda Unchained (Audio CD)

This is a sleeper that not everyone knows about but should, coming from me, this I hope will hold even more water, THIS IS SIMPLY OUTSTANDING, the playing, the production, the songs, the vocals, all outstanding. I love this record and it's one of my fav's.

I was thinking of fishing around YouTube for something else of theirs.  My guess is it's still crazy, but maybe it has a *little* more structure to it.

Here are two Mars Volta classics:

The Widow    www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUBQLnEGHNk

Inertiatic ESP    www.youtube.com/watch?v=neSQgkEy_xQ

Enjoy !

Don't expect to understand the lyrics initially, as Cedric mixes English with Spanish and Cedrish, and he associates wildly  ;)

My brother already knows "Ghost Opera".

I listened a lot to "The Black Halo", back in 2005, when I was just becoming a Progger. I liked it, but lost track of them when I discovered so much more bands.

Now playing: nothing.
No music anyway. I'm playing a game: wordfeud. It's a bit of a hype, and I guess I'm sort of addicted. (And really good too!)

OK, but I hope you get the drift: If he likes Kamelot, he'l like SyX, and from there it's not so far to DT and so many other great prog groups.

Maybe he's not as interested in lyrics as you and needs somethin more metal than Arena  ;)

NP  Explorers Club:  Raising the Mammoth

Fabulous  *horns*

One should just not expect an Age of Impact 2 (altho this is natural given the exceptional power of AoI, but AoI had Petrucci and Sheehan, which RtM doesnt, and they sure set their mark on AoI).

RtM is an entirely different bird, exciting and unique in its own right  8)

And Jamie does some of his most wonderful singing here  :)

Listened to a radio show with progrock called 'Sympho Shop'. A nice way to discover new bands. Today for example I heard a band called 'Soen'. Heard a track from the Flying Colors album which I enjoyed very much! And a track from the new Landmarq album. It was a nice 2 hours show!

NP  Anubis Gate:  Andromeda Unchained

Definitely a masterpiece  *horns*

It is very harsh, even for me, and needs many listens to be appreciated properly. (Ms 007 can't even hear a few seconds of AG.) Strangely, as mentioned by several reviewers, it does have a "spacy" quality, as the title implies, spacy not in the sense of Floyd, more like interplanetary and interstellar, quite unusual  8)

Guys, challenge yourselves with this great album  ;)

Uplifting to have such an excellent group in this musical wasteland of Denmark  :)

Dumb that Mike's music gets classified as New Age  ::)

This guy rocks, and he's progressive too  *horns*

I always wondered who did the growl there at 2:20 or something. Mike perhaps?

2:23 to be exact.

Well... don't know if it classifies as a real growl. More like a grunt perhaps. ;) Anyway, it's one of those death metal thingies, which normally won't be found on a Neal Morse album indeed.
