Guess the trick is to buy all the Pallas and Caamora stuff and enjoy him there  8)

Does [Alan Reed] appear anywhere else ?

I hope he gets another proper chance - great singer  *horns*

Yes, he appeared on two albums by Abel Ganz, a Neo-Prog band: "Gratuitous Flash" (1984) and "The Dangers Of Strangers" (1988).

Don't ask me what they're like, 'cause I don't know.

Btw Iggy, do you know about this project:  www.amazon.com/Levin-Torn-White-Tony/dp/B005H492PI/ref=pd_sim_m_1

I know that project. It's quite cool actually. Very Crimson like. I'm sure you'll like it Nicky, if you give it a try.

The new year is full for me with Pendragon music so far. Inspired by conversations here in the room. :)
Needs re-discovery. I have all the old stuff, the first missing CD is "Not of this world". The prog I love is high melodical and accessible so "The World" or The Masquerade eg. is exactly my stuff and played mostly at the moment.

And this "Total recall", really big thing. For me the refrain especially, its beauty is amazing, so uplifting.

You can hear the whole EP from him called 'Dancing With Ghosts' on www.progstreaming.com
I did yesterday. Love his vocals, like always, but still prefer the plugged stuff. A new full album will be released this year.

Today:
Neal Morse - Testimony Two
Ayreon - The Final Experiment
X-Panda - Flight Of Fancy

Thanx, Teunis, will get that one  8)

Played:

Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke:  Duality

This is one of my fave albums. I play it when I want somethin real atmospheric, as constrasted with rocky.

I already tipped you guys about Lisa, but noone here seems to have gotten hooked. Here's another chance to hear a wonderful music piece. But get properly into it, it's not a piece that pounces upon ya  ;)

Billy Sheehan:  Cosmic Troubadour

My fave bassist. Great album  *horns*

Explorers Club:  Age of Impact

Here Billy, JP, Matt Bradley, Terry Bozzio, and Trent Gardner are at their very best  *horns*

I have heard one album by Lisa Gerrard, and it was nice. It was kinda new agey stuff, something like Enya.
I also like that song that was in the Gladiator movie. Very very cool song. but I also looooooove Hans Zimmer's music.

PP Kansas - Two For The Show (30th Anniversary 2 CD set)

Man, this is so great  8) I usually don't recommend live albums to start with a band but I will make an exception here. The first CD is a perfectly well crafted and executed best-of of this sometimes metal sometimes symphonic yet always accessible greatest American prog band (IMHO, because I know that many of you see things differently). The second CD is less essential to newcomers but it's a must-have for fans of the band.

About as close as Arena and Opeth are to each other, in this case rock with male singer  ;)

Paxi, listen a bit more to Lisa Gerrard, she's a very exciting artist, much more than a sweet New Age singer. She's released quite a number of albums, also some great stuff with her earlier group Dead Can Dance (which Funky likes)  *horns*

Played:

Explorers Club:  Age Of Impact - of course, my fave album currently  8)

Arena:  Lions Cage - another fave these days. I really love the music, particularly Out Of The Wilderness, and I have some sorta craze about gettin the lyrics. Sometimes I think that Clive is even cleverer than me  ::)  OK, seriously, that he sees somethin in the human condition that is closed to me  ???  Great artist iac  *horns*

Yeah, call it hiphop or a little bit of rap. Don't like that music style, but the guitarsolo at the background keeps it VERY interesting  8).

Manatee

Well, the new Arena CD finally arrived in the colonies.  I've just played it, but I think it needs several more spins before I give my review.

And yes, Nicky, I pretty much have been hibernating.  ;)  I've remembered how much I like music though, so hopefully I'll be around more soon.

Also, while browsing around Amazon, I was reminded that Deadwing exists, so I'll probably have to play that nine or ten times after I get some sleep.   *horns*

Yeah, mine ran out December 9. So I have to look around again  :-\

But even when I have a fulltime job, I listen to a lotta music - it's my passion after all - and I'm also pretty active in the Room - doesnt take much time to drop an NP - and maybe add a comment  ;)

Never really liked Saxon.
I've got two or three albums on vinyl but, obviously, hardly give them a spin.
I think the last one I played either one of them is about twenty years ago.  :o

I'm getting old. ;)

Welcome back Manatee ! I hope you will hang around more often  ;)

About Saxon, they have a few killer songs, including the two that you mentioned, Nicky, or for instance Strong Arm Of The Law, but I haven't heard anything from their last 20 years outputs. For me , it's more or less the same thing that Maiden or Priest : a few good songs but I have never been impressed by a complete album (maybe the first Maiden albums but even those  :P). And no, guys, you can not kill me through the web  ;D

NP : nothing. Just played Nicky's Wacken YT link. It's really a great place to shoot videos, always awesome crowds and filming.

Guys  ;)

Yes it's a great album. *horns* Will listen to it again this week, it's been far too long... ::)

JP: Sylvan - Sceneries

I'm having a difficult time with this album. The vocals (and the use of English) are getting more and more of an obstacle for me, from album to album. A shame because the music is really good. And alhough the music is good, two cd's is just too much. At least, for me.

Will keep trying for a while though. I won't give up that easy!

NP: Blaudzun - Heavy Flowers

I love this Dutch singer/songwriter's music. Don't expect prog, but if you have an open mind and you would like to hear something fresh and unique, give Blaudzun a chance on Youtube!

@Tom, oh, the first one is really beautiful!! - Flames on my head. I'll play it again.
upps, in the second he sings about german girls. :) Could be interesting, but I don't get the lyrics.

When you talk about Wacken lately. Interesting to imagine, its just a small town or even village with 2000 people, but big Heavy Metal town for the festival days. There is a docu about all the things around the stage and in the village. Surely worth to dig out.
The spectrum of bands is big. From Scorpions to metal core. I remember watching a vid on youtube with fans doing a wall of death and I found it a little crazy. Its forbidden for some time now and security is strictly watching over.
But I have still great affection for bands like Scorpions and Iron Maiden. Used to be a Maiden fan in my youth, but soon I was more happy with the 80s poser and hairbands like Cinderella and White Lion. And then there was Bon Jovi with the great New Jersey album.

NP: Blind Guardian -Bard's song (Wacken 2007, with an awesome crowd singing)
