NP  Pallas  on  YouTube Mix

www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hDHoadUkZs&feature=bf_next&list=AVGxdCwVVULXd3F7f8M9E5zBSjO8LM_kkk&lf=list_related

Man, it's suuuch a long time since I'v listened to this fabulous group  *horns*

I have to get XXV soon. I can't find any of the stuff on YouTube. Mad doesnt seem to be so crazy bout it, but I have to form my own opinion. And I'm curious to hear how Paul Mackie sounds with the guys (all these new Pauls). I really liked Alan, as person and as singer, so PM's sure got somethin to live up to  ;)

This group is so fantastic ... and hardly anyone knows or cares, not even anymore in the Room, for crying out loud  :'(

Nicky.

The thing with Pallas is, that before Alan Reed left, I really liked the music but disliked the singing.
Nowadays its visa versa. Go figure.
I do like XXV but like I said, I hardly ever play it anymore, don't know why.
Well, I do know...I'm not really into neo-prog anymore, a phase I guess.

Give me anything proggy, but not the neo-kind. ;-)

Especially the old English-style.

:o

You really are Mad  ???

NP  Pallas:  The Last Angel

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aube3ScpljA&feature=autoplay&list=AVGxdCwVVULXd3F7f8M9E5zBSjO8LM_kkk&lf=list_related&playnext=3

This never ceases to be a great piece  *horns*

OK, just found some XXV stuff, it turned up in the YouTube Mix (right after Angel):

Pallas:  Falling Down

www.youtube.com/watch?v=iblXnXQyPX8&feature=autoplay&list=AVGxdCwVVULXd3F7f8M9E5zBSjO8LM_kkk&lf=list_related&playnext=4

Pretty  8)

About Pallas: tastes seem to differ  ;). Alan Reed is one of my favourite prog singers, I prefer the albums with him on lead vocals. The new album 'XXV' has some nice moments, but I don't like the rawer, rockier way of music, though I've given it several listenings.

Today: Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto

played it twice so far, not bad at all  8).
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

So what's in your prog agenda nowadays?

Just finished with You're Gone. And well, I gotta go now. See you all tomorrow. ;)

Yeah, we don't need that dumb Arena stuff no more  >:(

Or  ;)

On that note:

NP  Shadowland:  The Hunger - live - from A Matter Of Perspective

www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9XoXPdZtME

There's a guy called Clive singin  ;)

Starts with just a 12-string and Clive singin. Wonderful, gives me the goosies, that guy is a "wizard of great magic"  *horns*

Nice song too:

Shadowland:  When The World Turns To White

www.youtube.com/watch?v=3zEXFKAKDwc&feature=list_related&playnext=1&list=AVGxdCwVVULXd3UKdTi-RxprOY8SLpn7M2

Arent we lucky guys ?  Other people listen to junk music, we listen to magic music  :)

That old classification of groups into neo-prog, metal, etc, I find that meaningless today. I mean, great groups like Arena and DT, they can do the whole caboodle, everything from classical to heavy metal. Aint that so, guys ?

Abso-bloody-lutely! ;)
But sometimes it helps to give it a name. This is metal, this is blues, this is classical, this is rap. :-X It's great that some bands don't stick to one genre per se.

Asia - Aria

Steven Wilson - "Grace For Drowning"
Disc one: Deform To Form A Star
3. Deform To Form A Star

I really like this song. And this album. Again a Steven Wilson masterpiece. Does this guy ever release something that's not ingenious?

Not in later times, but some of his early stuff is hit-or-miss. A few years ago, I got cult about him and acquired all of his released stuff at the time. But often it's people who initially go all ways who become genius. That's obviously the case with SW  8)

Played:

Pallas:  The Dreams Of Men

This is really a masterpiece  *horns*

Aint that so, Teunis ?

Paxi, have you listened properly to this album ?

And I have a hunch that Mad has missed it out on it. Mad, in your struggle to prove that Maiden are the greatest group in music history, you tend to ignore the best albums by many other groups. How are you with Dreams ?

And boy do you have to listen to lyrics here. Actually just like with Arena. Else the music simply doesnt make any sense. I know many people who don't really focus on lyrics, and of course, they never get as far as Arena and Pallas  :-X

NP  Shadowland  on  YouTube

Not quite Arena league, but definitely worth an experience. Paxi, what you said about SW, one could also say about Clive, couldnt one ?  :)

NP Steve Howe - Times

Steve Howe's new album is very nice. I like his acoustic guitar rendition of Bach's Wachet Auf. But I don't think the album cover is a great choice, commercially speaking.

Nightwish's new album is a big step in the right direction from what I've heard. What do you think?

Both were opened early  :P

I love Times a great mellow CD.

Nightwish is god as well but again I have only heard it once.

As for the CD cover maybe Roger Dean was busy  :)

Philip Glass:  The Hours - from the movie The Hours

www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wkof3nPK--Y&feature=related

Gripping  *horns*

I gave Ms 007 the cd with Philip Glass' music for the movie as a Christmas present. Of course, the best presents are the ones that one can enjoy oneself too  ;)

The title song is probably the best piece, but the entire cd is unusually gripping  :)

Anyone here seen the movie ?

Guess the trick is to buy all the Pallas and Caamora stuff and enjoy him there  8)

Does he appear anywhere else ?

I hope he gets another proper chance - great singer  *horns*

I also hope that Pallas get some more attention. If Arena are terribly underrated, this goes even more for Pallas  :(

Gotta keep these great groups alive in progforums like the Room, huh guys  :)

NP  Anthrax:  We've Come

I really go for this sorta stuff too  *horns*

Funky, I think that you like it too. Mad, you'r sorta lukewarm with Anthrax, aint that so ? And Iggy, how are you with'm ?

I like both Bush and Belladonna as singers for Anthrax  8)
