E.g. Shadow Gallery, Wolverine, Darkwater, Ayreon (even heavier albums like 'Flight Of The Migrator'), Star One, Threshold.  *horns*

However, I consider SW heavier, and iac busier, than all those  ;)

How about Circus Maximus, Teunis ?  Not only are they close to SW, but the guys are obviously good friends, judging from the credits in the album booklets  8)

Judas Priest ~ Electric Eye  *horns*

Mad, when will you ever realise that Priest transformed themselves with Painkiller, and thereafter made a series of groundbreaking progressive albums  ;)

Probably hopeless - I think I'l play football with your head  :P

NP  Explorers Club:  Age Of Impact

Man, this album really does it for me  *horns*

Teunis, here's another recom for you - and for Cap, man, I'm worried about your musical future  :D

But be warned: It's a very busy album, and therefore takes time, but it's completely growlfree - in fact the singing is exceptional too  ;)

You'd like Dali's Dilemma's Manifesto too, sorta like Shadow Gallery  :)

NP Kate Bush - 50 Words For Snow, on repeat

Very quiet and subtle, even more than Aerial, but a real grower. In advance, after reading some reviews, I had my doubts about the tracks with Elton John and Stephen Fry but it all works and flows perfectly. Opener Snowflake is currently favourite. "The world is so loud. Keep falling. I'll find you."
We stare at our screens

What a waste of eyes..

NP  DT:  A Dramatic Turn Of Events

Nothing like pop, just as exciting and challenging as all the other DT-albums since Awake  *horns*

Another vintage DT-abum  8)

And those solos by Petrucci in Breaking All Illusions, man, absolutely spell-binding !!!

Hasn't anyone else here noticed them  ???

Teunis, now that you'r a metal wreck  ;D  how are you with DT ?

I received it as a bonus free CD with The Seventh Degree and other CD's ordered at progrock.uk.com. Some of the songs are very impressive, especially those from Unitopia and my dear Paul Menel (ah, memories of the lost "commercial" IQ  8)). But the song that really hooked me big time at first listen is Phideaux's Tempest Of Mutiny. Woow  *horns* Time for me to visit Phideaux's catalogue.

Edit : Konchordat's Panic Room, from their recent album The New Crusade, is impressive too !

Tom, what's happened to your metal sense ? Has your lady bitten off yer ....

Today I listened to Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare, DT - A Dramatic Turn Of Events and Queens Of The Stone Age - Songs For The Deaf so I think it's safe to say the lady hasn't bitten off anything...

NP: Marillion - Brave

Or did she? ;D

That's a bridge too far for me ::). I've tried, but the music was too complex for me and I don't like the voice of James LaBrie that much.

Today:
Asia - Asia
Spock's Beard - X
Anima Mundi - The Way

The latter two on progstreaming.com. Not my type of music, it's making me nervous :o.

I barely know any of those groups. I'v listened a bit to Phideaux and Day Six and got'm on my shopping list  8)

But right now I have enuff new great stuff to listen to:

NP  Arena:  Seventh Degree

Just picked it up at the post office, so first run .....

Also got:

Subsignal:  Beautiful & Monstrous

Listened to them on Mad's recom (so he's not entirely useless  :P ), and 20 minutes of listening was enuff to get'm on my pantheon list. This album is absolutely wonderful  *horns*

Teunis, here's a recom for you  ;)

Anthrax:  We've Come For You All

Was balled over by Worship Music (enthusiasm shared with Mad  :) ), so I simply had to get the previous album. That's the logic in all this, and my finances are down to zero again  ;)

Haken:  Visions

Was so enthralled by Aquarius that I also simply had to get this one (also shared with Mad, so he's not completely off track  ;D )

Already own that one  ;). Heard their new album on Progstreaming.com, also nice!

Just: Wolverine - Communication Lost
Now: Arena - TSDOS

Although I know you have to listen to it more often, what's your first impression Nicky? Quite enjoyable or do you miss the epics?  ;)

Noted  :)

Teunis, I'v also noted that you'r not as talkative as some other Roomies, but when you do come forth with something, it's well worked out and you really mean it  ;)

As I am a very shy and quiet person, I understand you well  :-X

;D

Very enjoyable indeed  *horns*

The music is a bit more twisted on this album, which suits the very advanced concept (the moment of death and right after). As usual with Clive's lyrics, one really has to strain oneself to extract meaning - and that's good, cuz that's prog  8)

As to comparing Paul with Rob, I'd like to let that tricky matter crystallise properly  ;)

NP  Lamb of God  on  YouTube

These guys have become big in metalworld, and they'r booked for Copenhell, so I decided to give'm a proper run. As with Slayer, LoG are not quite my thing currently, but there's a lot goin on in their music, and they'r pretty hot live, sooo, let's see .....

Pallas - XXV

An album that did little to me when it was released, then suddenly I got the 'message' and now...I hardly play it anymore.

Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Bupie

PP Marillion - Somewhere Else

I bought it a few years ago but I think that I had not played it entirely once. Now it's done  :) And I liked it for the most part (but not for the Most Toys  :P) On a peaceful monday morning at home with the girls, watching the first snowfall of this winter throughout the window, it works. I will come back to it but I would suggest Nicky to stay away from it  ;D

JF Man On Fire - Chrysalis

I bought this one based on a song heard during a DPRP radio show but first listens of the whole album haven't been so convincing. I have to try it again.

NP Magenta - Chameleon

As you know, Magenta is one my favorite bands and Chameleon is their last output. I was a little disappointed after first listens but compared to the two albums aforementioned, it's a killer  8)

I admit that the live Marillion stuff that Tom posted a while ago gripped me somewhat, but their studio albums:  ZZZZZZZ  :-X

NP  Arena:  Lion's Cage

I'v decided that I have to get this album now, and when I make such a decision I'm like a bulldog  ;)

And it's very enjoyable  8)

Man, it's suuuch a long time since I'v listened to this fabulous group  *horns*

I have to get XXV soon. I can't find any of the stuff on YouTube. Mad doesnt seem to be so crazy bout it, but I have to form my own opinion. And I'm curious to hear how Paul Mackie sounds with the guys (all these new Paul Ma's). I really liked Alan, as person and as singer, so PM's sure got somethin to live up to  ;)

This group is so fantastic ... and hardly anyone knows or cares, not even anymore in the Room, for crying out loud  :'(
