Actually, Cap, both singular and plural are acceptable in English  ;)
The associations differ tho:  Singular indicates the group as an entity, while plural refers to it as an assembly of individuals.
I too prefer the plural form, as I note what the individual members contribute with.
But here I think it's really a matter of taste  :)
But the content of Tom's post is absolutely wrong  ;D

I was actually referring to making posts like "this IS, and that is NOT...": opinions can't be stated as facts. Disturbs me more in this special case, as I don't share the opinion :) I should stop being too much of an old school teacher... sorry Tom.

NP  Marillion:  Clutching At Straws
Not as good as Misplaced Childhood imo, but it has the wonderful Warm Wet Circles  *horns*

I love it, it's a brilliant album. Haven't listened to it for quite while now, as like many others, cos I'm a bit over-fed (?) with the stuff.

What's so funny about 'art'? If there was an 'f' in front of it, I could imagine that YOU could laugh about it, but...

Great, that made me laugh for quite a while :)

Oh, and while talking about "art" and being a "beast": just take the Porcupine Tree stuff, it has all there is to art and smashy metal stuff.

Excellent example!!
Porcupine Tree can be a beast and art at the same time.

OK, Cap, but you didnt make that clear. Anyhows, we all make categorical statements like that, meaning of course "imo"  ;)

Baptized in Blood, Bullet for my Valentine, and All That Remains were the three big positive surprises for me at Copenhell, and ATR were the best (imo). Later, listenin to them on YouTube (I barely knew'm beforehand, and thus I didnt have any cd's by'm), it's clear to me that they'r pantheon (imo), and thus --> my pantheon groups  *horns*

I'l tell you more about my experiences at Copenhell later - promise - just have had some busy days  ;)

Yeah maybe you have a point but I was getting a bit fed up with all the praise for the Fish-era and the neglect towards the h-era, that's what triggered my reply. And besides, opinions can't be stated as facts you say? Then what's this:

I wouldn't go that far but it's a good album.
It does sound a bit like Paradise Lost but then better.

I read in the magazine Sweden Rock that Iconoclast was considered the heaviest SyX album to date, the "Black album" of SyX.

From Amazon.com: "Considering this accomplished history of prolific creation, prog connoisseurs may ask themselves how SYMPHONY X could possibly go one better. The answer comes from the singer himself, Russell Allen: 'Iconoclast delivers a summary of our previous work and a musical positioning of SYMPHONY X within the second decade of the new century.' Meanwhile, Michael Romeo raises the bar enormously with his guitar work: 'This record will only become accessible to the listener after several runs. That was our purpose – otherwise we would have failed trying to create a multi-faceted and profound album that gives pleasure to our fans for a long time!'"

Nicky.

Hmm, I thought that people considered Paradise Lost as the heaviest SyX album.  :-\
Don't really agree about Iconoclast because although it has it's heavy moments, there's also room for the softer SyX side.
