JP  Marillion:  Misplaced Childhood

A great classic  *horns* *horns* *horns*

from the time when Marillion were one of the most exciting bands on this planet. And not only was Fish tremendous, but also Rothery and the other guys were doin exciting stuff.

Then they broke up, and Fish took the excitement with him, while Marillion settled down to become a middle-aged, middle-of-the-road band, maybe with subtle lyrics, but the music  ???

Well, I know that some of you guys disagree - each to theirs ... but Cap agrees with me  :)

Absolutely. Marillion ended 1988. *sniff*  :'(
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

I put on my headphones, I lied back, closed my eyes, smiled, but then couldn't press play anymore.

About the song. Well, it's not really my cup of tea. And I think in its genre there's better dance/trance/techno out there.

In a way ... you're right.

The Fish-Marillion can not be compared with the H-Marillion.
To me, they are two different bands. With similarities but still. ...

Noone else into'm ?

Perhaps you should tell us what's so great about it first.

I played Frost*'s "Milliontown" album after not having it played for, well, almost two years perhaps?
In the train, on my way to home, I played Black Light Machine three times in a row.
The lady who was sitting opposite to me was doing the "what the..."-face when I played those awesome guitar solos.

Actually, I am.  I've had that CD since shortly after it was released.  It's a ton of fun -- sorta metal with a little bit of everything else mixed in.   *horns*

Today I got stuck in awful NY traffic and had time to play two CDs:

Blind Ego - Mirror     I'm getting to like this more than I did when I first got it.

Phideaux - Doomsday Afternoon    My current choice for the best American prog album ever.

"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

I just have to post on page 666! 8)

It's been a while, so what have I been up to musically?

Pagan's Mind - Heavenly Ecstasy: I've been playing it a lot the last week or so. I was never really into Pagan's Mind but some raving reviews on their latest release made me buy my first album by them. And wow, under what rock have I been living? ??? I think the album is great. It's heavy, it's catchy, it's melodic, it's epic and the singing is amazing. This is the kind of album that needs to be played LOUD. It's definitely not a good album to listen to in your car though 'cause it will be getting you speeding tickets for sure... *horns*

System Of A Down - Toxicity: Last sunday was a lazy one. I went to a bachelor's party on saturday and had a good time, drank way too much and when I went to bed the night was long gone. Obviously I wasn't very useful on sunday. Anyway, on sunday-evening I sat behind my computer for a bit of mindless browsing and just when I was about to shut it down and go to bed early I stumbled across a livestream of the Rock am Ring-festival in Germany where I saw that System Of A Down was about to enter the stage. Needless to say I couldn't turn off my computer. Instead I watched a highly energetic concert in the pouring German rain that made me rediscover the genius that is Toxicity. I've listened to it at least twice a day since then, that's probably more than I listened to it in total the last few years. But it's great to be back in SOAD-land!

Oh, and I ended up having five whole hours of sleep that night... ::)

Jolly - The Audio Guide to Happiness, Part 1: This is an album that impressed me a lot since I discovered it (thanks to the Room!). There is something about it that keeps me coming back to it. No matter how much I hear it, it just doesn't bore me at all. The track 'Joy' is one of the very best songs I heard in a long while, by any band. It's got such a great melody, I wish I'd be the one who came up with it! ;D Bring on part 2! *horns*

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light: I wasn't very happy when Dave Grohl announced how they would be recording this album - in Dave Grohl's garage using only analog equipment. Because of this I feared the sonic quality of the album would be in the vain of Pain Of Salvation's Road Salt One. Luckily this isn't the case and Foo Fighters might have come up with their best album yet. It's filled with great up-tempo songs with intriguing riffs and catchy choruses. The band sounds tighter than ever and Dave Grohl is on fire. The only song that took me some time to get used to was White Limo, due to the constant screaming. Repeated listens helped me to see this song as one of the album's highlights so there you go...

It's been a while, so what have I been up to musically?

Thanx for the tips, Tom  8)

Pagan's Mind - Heavenly Ecstasy: I have three early PM studio albums. I played them some four years ago. I liked'm somewhat, but I wasnt really gripped, and I didnt like the singing. But with your warm recom of HE, I guess I'l just have to put it on my SL  8)

System Of A Down - Toxicity: I'v mainly heard SOAD casually, on radio, a few times on YouTube, and I once borrowed a couple of SOAD albums from a friend. I'v had Toxicity on my SL for a while, guess I should upgrade it  :)

Jolly - The Audio Guide to Happiness, Part 1: I too am enthusiastic about this one  *horns*

Foo Fighters - Wasting Light: My attempts with Foo Fighters havent been too successful. I simply find them boring. But I'l give'm another run at some point  :-\
