Mindflow ~ Just the Two of Us; Me and Them

Brazilian prog and not in the vein of Angra. ;)
Not by far!

It's prog metal alright, with a singer who sometimes sound like Bruce Dickinson (Maiden), sometimes like Geoff Tate (Queensrÿche) and sometimes like James LaBrie (Theater without Dreams ;D).
It's complex with lots of different structures in it.
I bought the album when it was released but to my surprise I've never heard it ever since.
A shame really. It's actually quite good.  *horns*

Hey, great stuff, lotta melody and variation, special catchy rhythms  *horns*

Remind me of Adagio, Cloudscape, and A7 too.

Got their three studio albums on my SL now.

Thanx, Mad  :)

Could easily become a Room staple. Guys  ;)

NP  DT:  Scenes

Right now:  The Spirit Carries On

Not bad, not bad at all  ;)

Hm, noteworthy, during this weekend, I'v been dwelling on three of my absolute fave albums: Nostradamus, The Detached, and Scenes. Wonder what that means .....

Tom, Mad, Paxi, and Bups, have you heard of this group ?

I thought they were a band? When you're talking about groups I always have to think of those awful boybands but maybe that says more about me than it says about you... :P

NP: Blackfield - Welcome To My DNA

Once again a stellar record by Aviv Geffen and Steven Wilson. I'm looking forward to seeing them live this Sunday! 8)

Tom, I use "band" and "group" synonymously when discussing rock. When I was a kid, "rock group" was the most common designation.

NP When I get home, I plan on playing Nachtmystium. Gettin around, guys  ;)

Anubis Gate is very interesting, for sure. Mindflow, I still have to check and I will since Mad's intriguing remark ("Brazilian prog and not in the vein of Angra. Not by far! [...] It's prog metal alright [but] it's complex with lots of different structures in it") left me baffled  :o

NP Caamora - She
Very keyboards driven, which is not a surprise, of course. Ah, the lovely voice of Christina comes in, immediately lifting my interest to a higher level : it's The Bonding  8)

Go for it, Bups. The music is great, and so is the story, about time travel and stuff, very well thought out  *horns*

Skip the baffled, just play'm. Great stuff  *horns*

NP  Nachtmystium:  Assassins: Black Meddle, Part 1 (2008)

Positive surprise, all sorta metal between psychedelic and extreme, these guys cut it  *horns*

This is a band I'm gonna pursue .....

A really great album!
Everything Karl does is great! His collaborations with Clive are cool too. Yesterday I played "The Hound Of The Baskervilles" and it has Groom on it. I really love that album.

Checked the links plus the videoclip for the song Breakthrough. I agree with Mad, it's not in the vein of Angra. By far ;D  Once again, each to his own musical tastes.

I think most of us agree on this one. Really addictive. Is the whole album as astonishing ?

Hmm, not quite actually.
It took me a while to get into the album.
It came to me that the whole album is very vocal orientated. Much lyrics to sing I guess.
The title track is a gem, really with Tommy Karevik playing the lead role. He's really wandering through the vocal landscape on this track, many variations in his voice.
Currently I'd say yes, it's a marvelous release but to be honest you need a few extra spins to come to that conclusion.

Aaaah, Alley Cat, what a marvellous track, and I like the show-off and the atmosphere of the video, which makes the song even better.

Today:
Pendragon - The Window of Life

Still my favourite Pendragon album. Pure was great too. Pre-ordered the new release 'Passion', hope to receive it early next week. Very curious, there even seems to be a bit or rap on it  ::). Well, at least they don't repeat themself, quite progressive ;).

Gazpacho - Bravo

Man, do I play Gazpacho a lot since I've seen them live 8).
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

And it's also very stereotype. ;)

Did I mentioned that I hate stereotype?

Can't remember if I did. ...

Well... ahum... the track itself is of course quite good.
Not really a subject you would expect from the Wonders but still...

Mad, if it was that easy to make a song like Alley Cat, lotta other groups would do it, but honestly: Alley Cat is an unusually smashing hit - for proggies  *horns*

NP  Nachtmystium:  Assassins

Superficially this album can also seem straightforward ... but it's actually ingenious  *horns*

Guys, try this:

Today I listened to OSI - "Free"

I just *love* tracks such as Free, All Gone Now, Bigger Wave and Better. But honestly, all tracks are great.
For instance on Go, I love it when the synthsolo goes slightly off-key. Brilliant! ;D

And? What do you think?
I liked it immediately!

I even like Kevin's 'apathic' voice. He sings as if he doesn't care how it sounds.
On the first day
I set the scene on a magazine
And now I hurt someone
In the next scene
I cracked the code of the episode
And now I'm having fun

How he sings "now I'm having fun". ;D

More Kevin than Jim, which is not surprising  :)

Once is a great song  *horns*

Like DT and FW better tho  :)

The latter is actually pretty good - and got some "extra entertainment'  ;)

Again, those where the days when they made tasty (read: non-vulgar) music videos  8)

Nowadays we only have the Gaga trash  :'(

With Neal Schon - who's actually a neat guitarist - and Deen Castronovo, names you guys should know  ;)

This is pretty much where Deen started out ... and ended in the Room  ;D

OK, guys, have a nice weekend  :)

Doesnt look like others than Paxi and me wanna keep the Room alive.

Lately, I've laid the rock stuff aside a bit.

np> Talk Talk - [The Colour Of Spring (1986) #03] Life's What You Make It (4:29)

Wow, this album is truly amazing. To all real music lovers, I can really only recommend it, it's a true diamond, despite being 25 years old... omg... :)
