I ordered this one after a bunch of promising listens on youtube but I am still waiting for its arrival. It should fit (with ?) my actual neo prog mood.

By the way, Mad, did you finally go and see Megadave ?

Great second album of these Dutch prog-rockers/metallers.  8) *horns*

Played:

Dream Theater:  Awake

I'm always struck by how good this album is. Put on a set of headphones, skip the first two tracks, which I don't enjoy, and from then on it's musical manna, every moment of it, except the last track Space-Dye Vest, which bores me somewhat.

With headphones, you realise just how much invention & care has been put into it:  Petrucci's many fine runs, Mike's fills, Jamie's frills, Myung's tasty responses to Petrucci, Kevin's subtle twists, etc etc. - whew, amazing  *horns*

Gorillaz:  Demon Days

Blur never really gripped me, so Damon surprised me bigtime here: Guys, Demon Days is really great, a lot better than you would expect from all the mainstream buzz. I also played it with headphones, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, a lot more than Coldplay & Co. Much invention and care has been put into this album too.

I have to get some more Gorillaz albums  :)

NP  Another great group, this time from Hälsingborg, Sweden:  Cloudscape - one of my pantheon groups. Noone here seems to be listening to'm, so here's another great YouTube video by'm:

NP  Cloudscape  on  YouTube

Guess I'm in a Cloudscape mood today  8)

These guys have put a lotta care into the rhythm & bass section, which comes forth amazingly with good headphones  *horns*

Guys  ;)  - all fans of DT & SW, that should include some Roomies  :)

Here, another great Cloudscape song, with quite a different mood from the earlier songs:

I don't give up that easily.

Singing/screaming along with the last part of this song is a great way to vent your frustration after a shitty day! >:( *horns*

I guess this doesn't really fit here but I was just watching 'Criminal Minds', one of my favourite shows on tv, and suddenly towards the end of the episode I heard a tune I immediately recognised as Opeth's Death Whispered A Lullaby! :o

How cool! *horns*

Did you fell asleep or something? :P

In total, they aired three episodes last evening. The first one was a new one and the other two were somewhat older. Death Whispered A Lullaby played near the end of the first 'old' episode, around 10:15 PM.

BTW, the older episodes (which I hadn't seen previously) were among the best and most thrilling I've seen from this show. Really dark and twisted, just like Nicky. ;D

NP: Opeth - Damnation

Yes, I was inspired to play it... ;)

This one is good too:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylQdpv8Ua1M&NR=1&feature=fvwp

Norwegian metal group, but not really Norwegian black metal, more in the style of Into Eternity and BTBAM, lotta melody, more cohesive than BTBAM, pretty  8)  - Tom, Mad, Funky, give it a few runs ;)

Played:

Bob Dylan:  Together Through Life

Good old Bob playin the good ol' blues  :)

Grand Magus:  Iron Will

Swedish group, fine regular metal  8)

Judas Priest:  Live In London

The official double-cd with Ripper (2003).

Judas Priest:  A Touch Of Evil

The first official live album with Rob after their reunion (2009).

Ripper and Rob, both formidable singers, add different spicing, but basically this is the Mighty Priest, as good as metal gets, beyond perfect, ineffable  *horns*

They sure got themselves some mf of a drummer in Scott Travis, together with Ian Hill, a veritable onslaught. Man, what a rhythm section !!!

NP  Keep of Kalessin  on  YouTube  *horns*

Here's one of their catchy melodic songs with (barely) no growl, The Dragontower:

Who would'v thought this possible:

Keep of Kalessin:  Dragontower  - the MGP performance ( Eurovision Song Contest 2010 Quarterfinal )

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bW3wU2fDc2o

They made it to the third place in the Norwegian finals - amazing !!!

The times they sure are a-changin - at least in Norway. First time a real metal song has been played in the Eurovision context !  (Lordi isnt real metal)

But of course they couldnt let'm win - yet - and go out into the rest of Europe and give all the kiddies nightmares ... and maybe some baaad ideas  ;)

NP  Keep of Kalessin:  Reptilian Majesty  (on repeat)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7EIByM1Xc4

Last song on Reptilian, and possibly best  8)

As good as metal gets - i.e. unbelievable  *horns*

If there's a Hell in Heaven ... think I might wanna go there  ;D

OK, Cap, I'l keep quiet with my metal for a while. I don't wanna give you nightmares ... and make ya worry about yer crew  ;D

NP  Enya:  The Sweetest Secrets Of The Heart

for voice and pan flute, with little birdies chirping.

:P

NP  Dead Can Dance:  Self-titled (debut)

Skip that one, guys, I find it boring  :-\

The second DCD studio album, Spleen And Ideal, is quite fulfilling  8)

Did you guys see the two wonderful DCD videos I posted, Sacrifice and The Host Of Seraphim ?  (Mad, I know that you did, but give'm another run, they'r really great, a lot more than ambient, also the visuals)  ;)
