What can you recommend by DCD, Funky ?

I'm really hot on Lisa Gerrard these days. Inducted her into my pantheon  8)

Did you play the link I sent a few days ago with her spellbinding rendition of Sacrifice ?  ;)

PT:  The Incident

Bit of a mixed bag. Thrilling  *horns*

Jimmy Page and Robert Plant:  Walking into Clarksdale

Wonderful album, some of the finest stuff that Jimmy and Percy have done together  *horns*

It felt great to be back in their company again. This eve I'm gonna do some Zep, Page and Percy cult  8)

I can even do Them Crooked Vultures  ;)

Wanna join me, Funky ?  :)

Get OM II too, Tom, just as brilliant  *horns*

You think so? I read a lot of negative reviews about the album around the time it was released. I don't base my album-purchases entirely on reviews, but when they're all slamming the album (the ones that I happen to read anyway) it doesn't really encourage me to go out and buy that very album.

NP: Arena - Immortal?

This is Arena's darkest album in my view. Along with Contagion this one is my favourite. *horns*

The Butterfly Man

NP: The Butterfly Effect - Final Conversation Of Kings

Australian band, the music is often described as 'Karnivool-like', only a bit more accessible.

You think so?

It's an album for more progressive proggies:  Proggies who relish being challenged fully musically and philosophically  ;)

Iow a real masterpiece *horns*

OM II is in fact more challenging than OM I; that's why only few reviewers getit.

I wish that reviewers were more patient - in fact I wish that people in general were more patient, perseverent, and intense (as contrasted with extensive). Our prog musicians give their all to making quality music (as contrasted with the hit factory radio and TV stuff), so I consider it our divine duty as proggies to repay with utter respect and devotion toward their music  :)

Here's a reviewer who's done what I ask for:

"I am absolutely stunned by the many 'fans' who are tearing this album apart. The only possible reasons I have come up with for this are: They are expecting a complete rehash of the first OM ... OR they have only listened to the album once or twice. Give this album a chance, for God's sake! One of the 'featured reviews' stated that Murderer? was an unmemorable, forgettable track .... WHAT??!?!? Did you even listen to the song more than once!?!

This album is a true grower and an absolutely amazing comeback that I for one was skeptical that they could pull off.

I will admit, the first time I popped OM II into the player, I was nervous. And after the first time thru the disc, I really didn't know what to make of it. But I knew that I wanted to hear it again to try and make sense of it. Upon repeated listenings, this album has blossomed into a true masterpiece. I really am just in love with this cd."

About Operation:Mindrime II:

I can't relate with the enthusiasm about this album.
Well, partly that is.

Up onto track no. 8, maybe 9 it is a decent album.
A good solid Queensrÿche album. But after that it totally goes wrong.
I highly respect Dio for his work on many albums, not only his own, but he's so out of place in The Chase.
It should've been a fine duel between Nicky (Geoff) and Prof. X (Dio) but it fails to grab me by the nuts.  :-\
After the Chase the album goes from idea from idea without any direction and, more important, it makes Op:Mi II a parody of the original album.
It doesn't do the album any good in my opinion.

And the end of the album is a total let down for me.  :-\

Well, I'l have to listen again, intently, to characterise the individual tracks. If I Could Change It All is one of my faves. There's the heart-wrenching first part, where Nikki is beyond relief full of remorse, Geoff sings this with excruciating pain, and then suddenly the second part, the amazing angelic choir, with a raw guitar cutting thru at a point, like a cross - very theosophical  8)

There's sooooo much to discover on this album  ;)

You know what, Tommy, this actually sounds a bit like SW and CM  ;)

Interesting:

"O3: A Trilogy is a studio album series by Dominici released between 2005 and 2008. It is a concept album trilogy about a terrorist sleeper cell coming to the United States and falling in love with the country. His assignment is not discussed in any depth. It can be assumed that he is to destroy the first world (possibly the entire world) as evidenced various lines throughout multiple songs, but he starts to have second thoughts, and is swayed to the other side by none other than the police officer who catches him. O3: A Trilogy constitutes the only albums currently produced by Dominici. Lead vocalist Charlie Dominici has stated that while the band will continue to record, he shows no interest in making more concept albums.

The first album in the trilogy is technically a solo album as Charlie Dominici is the only performer, playing the acoustic guitar, harmonica, and singing. Therefore, most people would not consider this a progressive metal recording, as the second album would display. Charlie Dominici's only contribution to the performance of the second and third albums was on vocals. For the rest of the trilogy, Brian Maillard played guitar, Yan Maillard played drums, Riccardo 'eRik' Atzeni played bass guitar, and Americo Rigoldi played keyboard."

- Wiki, O3: A Trilogy

And from www.ytsejam.com online magazine, June 4, 2005: "Literally one of the first times the acoustic singer/songwriter approach has been brought to progressive rock, setting a new standard."

I had no idea that this guy has sooo much talent  8)

Brian Maillard is a pretty amazing guitarist too !
