NP  Anubis Gate:  Andromeda Unchained

Musically this is the best Anubis album. Aint that right, Mad ?

Here, try this track from Andromeda:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDcbxcbWG9E

Tom, I simply can't understand how you can live without Anubis Gate and To-Mera - and on top of it in the midst of the marsh. You don't even have Bluey to keep ya company  :o

Listening to Andromeda unchained now - reminds me slightly of Pagan's Mind ? Which is no bad thing  :)

Huh? :?  ???

You mean the growls?
Exactly, not so annoying on the title track (only one or two words), but on 'Human See, Human Do' ...... hate it!
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

8)  Funky.

I find Anubis more varied, and the singing better (altho it's not quite to my taste), and I'm very much intrigued by the themes on the Anubis albums  ;)

NP  Kingcrow  on  YouTube  8)

Sharin'  :)

Part of Evasion sounds like Deadwing-era PT (with Italian accent in the singing), and part like Riverhead. Here, check it out:

Initially I'm pleasantly surprised by the extraordinary variation in their music. Like Lullaby For An Innocent is a completely different mood from Evasion, quite Floydian:

Thanx, Mad  :)

Thanx, mad and Nicky. These guys really rock. Will have to listen to more of their material.
The accent is audible, but it's okay, I like his voice :)

Hey, I think I deserve some credit as well! :-\ ;)

NP: Arena - Live & Life

I've been playing this one a lot lately. It's really one of the best sounding live-releases I ever heard.

What's wrong with The Killers? It's actually quite nice to listen to stuff that isn't full of endless solo-sections and lyrics about dragons from time to time. ::)

It will be interesting to see where this thread is going. Will it get back on track and just focus on Nevermore, or will the bashing of mainstream music continue? Let's find out after the break.... ;D

Tom, one gets credit for being useful  :P

JP  Halford:  Crucible

The name reveals the singer  ;)

Sounds good, but not more exciting than so much other excellent metal, at least not on first listen, nothing like what he did with the Priest guys after his return: Angel Of Retribution and Nostradamus.

Being in the 'hood, I decided to run

NP  Judas Priest:  British Metal

Doesnt really do anything for me, but I guess I have to live up to being a Priest fan  ;)

I find the stuff that Zep did at the time far more exciting. But many years later .....  *horns*

Voyager - Lost

Darn, mad was first again ... found this on the "related" list while listening to Kingcrow ;)

Pretty energetic, very melodious. If you saw cute black haired, clothed and rouged girlies in the video, one might think of "Goth" here :) A rocker, nevertheless. Do not click on the related remix.

Reminds me of End of Green a bit, stylewise.
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Peter

PS: While searching for "Voyager" in here, I found a guy's posts from 3 or 4 years ago, who used to do nothing but post "this is no good, bla-xy is better".... only time for me where I had to be like that, hope it stays that way. *knocks on wood*

Wooohoooo, and there they are, the goth chicks :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u5n70L_bH-o&feature=related

The chicks are (bitter)sweet, Cap, but the music is stuff we've heard a million times before, ainit ?

See, that's the problem: As soon as abc's get drawn in, music suffers  :(

You can play some run-of-the-mill music and get away with it, cuz nobody's listenin to the music, they'r all fantasisin bout the chicks  >:(

One thing at a time: I like abc's, but keep the boobs outta my music !  Gimme Petrucci & his guitar without some gaga boobs f*in around !  I'm usin strong language cuz I really mean it !

Aint that right, guys ?

NP  Adagio:  Dominate

No abc's around here, just plain top-league melodic dark progmetal  *horns*

Here, guys, try this:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGLwqhpnB7o

I only related to the ladies because of what I wrote two posts before, how the Voyager song reminded me of another goth band, where the video mainly exists for the "lady factor" :P

I never met a skipper in my life who don't like ladies  :D

Anyhows, Cap, my post was no attempt at mutiny; you only gave me an occasion to voice a general complaint  ;)

NP  The Doors:  Waiting For The Sun

Great album  *horns*

Ah, those times  :-* :'(

Noone listens to Doors any longer  :(

Try these, guys:

Not To Touch The Earth:  youtube.com/watch?v=d_-HqcNum7M

You can hear that there's some metal lurking in the minds of these guys already in 1968. Had Jim Morrison not died so young, I think that Doors would'v gone metal  8)

Summer's Almost Gone:  youtube.com/watch?v=DcEAI5p-wUg

When you hear this melancholic song, you would think that Jim could see what was coming  :(

I actually felt quite useful when I made that remark about The Killers and other mainstream music. The thing is, some people tend to look down on any music that isn't considered prog. I experienced this a lot in the prog-community over the years and it makes me cringe. I'm not saying that you or funkster are acting this way, but I just wanted to prevent the bashing of mainstream music on this nice board. Plus, I happen to actually like to listen to non-prog music and although I don't have any albums by The Killers, I felt a bit offended by some remarks in the Nevermore-thread.

NP: Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition

Prog enough? ;D

Hope i did not case any offence Tom  :-[

Personally , i do not like the Killers but love plenty of non prog bands inc Abba , Coldplay , Blur , Doves , Elbow , Snow patrol , Duran Duran and a whole raft of others.

My view is that there is just good and bad music - just depends on your personal taste eh  :)

I have some Nevermore , dreaming neon black , to listen to on the way home tonight and then some Madness for the boys  *horns*
