Enslaved - Runn and Isa

Both excellent and maybe even better than Vertabrae

I'l have to check up on that, Funkster .....

NP  Gojira:  The Way Of All Flesh

Got all the way thru at last - phew. This is an album that initially has to be taken in bits  8)

Funky  ;)

JP  PT:  Deadwing

An old fave of mine. Nice alternative to Gojira  :)

Greenie, you'r in for a real treat with Skyforger  ;)

Played:

Pantera:  Cowboys From Hell

Pantera:  Vulgar Display Of Power

Pantera are one of my pantheon (pantheron  ;D ) groups, but I must say that these two albums from resp. 1990 & 1992 don't do it for me, Cowboys being entirely proto-thrash, with Display beginning to gain some substance.

Let's ff to Trendkill and Steel, and then I'm mmmmmmmmm  8)

PT:  The Incident

Super album, lotta intrigue, metaphor, and very different moods  *horns*

Gavin has developed a lot since his early days with Steve, and all in all PT are a much more tightly knit band, rather than Steve with friends.

Enslaved:  Vertebrae

Lotta nice stuff here and there, but to my mind it doesnt really rise to pantheon level, nothing like Skyforger or Sideshow Symphonies  :-\

What's your take, Funky  ;)

NP  Rolling Stones:  Their Satanic Majesties Request

A wonderful album  8)

Altho it's Stones' Sergeant Pepper, it's more like Gentle Giant, tho much more melodic than they ever were.

Guys, promise me that if you ever consider gettin a Stones album, then make it this one - well, while you'r at it, get Beggars Banquet and Flowers too  ;)

These guys were once Great  *horns*

From Wiki, Their Satanic Majesties Request:

"Richie Unterberger of Allmusic wrote:

'Without a doubt, no Rolling Stones album — and, indeed, very few rock albums from any era — split critical opinion as much as the Rolling Stones' psychedelic outing. Many dismiss the record as sub-Sgt. Pepper posturing; others confess, if only in private, to a fascination with the album's inventive arrangements, which incorporated some African rhythms, Mellotrons, and full orchestration. Never before or since did the Stones take so many chances in the studio. In 1968, the Stones would go back to the basics, and never wander down these paths again, making this all the more of a fascinating anomaly in the group's discography.'"

Hey guys, aint you listenin to any music today ?  ;)

Morning dudes

Nicky , i in fact prefer cowboys from hell to their later output as it is a bit more melodic and less aggressive which works for me.

Vertabrae is good but it is not Skyforger , then again not many albums are  ;) Runn and Isa are both good solid albums and nothing to be ashamed of.

As for the Stones , well i love Exile on Main Street and Sticky fingers , beggars banquet and Let it bleed are all decent and are rightly known as their "classic" albums.

Currently listening to Elegy by Amorphis which is jolly pleasant and also some Dimmu Borgir which i find find to be very symphonic and better than i expected  :) so thumbs up their or should that be raises horns    *horns*

All fine albums, but for me Request holds a very special place  :)

Have you heard it at all, Funky ?  ;)

NP  Rush:  Snakes & Arrows

A true masterpiece, highly enjoyable all the way thru  *horns*

Man, have they developed since Counterparts  8)

Now that Erik is awol, seems like I'm alone with Rush in the Room, or ?

S&A could easily become a Room staple  ;)

Well, I know a Mickey Mouse who owns a bunch of their albums.

Hum, let me see : everything from Power Windows to Vapor Trails. The latter, I ... sorry, Mickey hasn't succeeded to listen to it in its entirety so far. MM also has the live A Show Of Hands, which he recommends  :)

Played:

Mastodon:  Crack The Skye

Great album  *horns*

- but not quite my style of metal. I prefer stuff with more melody and punchy rhythms - maybe I'm old-fashioned - like Priest have sooooo much of - guess that's why they'r Metal Gods  :)

The solo on Skye's Czar is pretty mind-blowing - phew !

Karnivool:  Sound Awake

First run. Aussie group from Perth. Nice, reminds me of Dredg  8)

I'm here! I may seem awol, but it's more "virtually present" with intervals really :P  ;)

Judging by the two precursor tracks Caravan and BU2B the new album Clockwork Angels will be a worthy successor of S&A.  *horns*

If you happen to see Micky, you could recommend him to go back a bit further with Grace Under Pressure and Signals, I think he might really like those two albums as well. Vapor Trails may indeed by a bit rough on his big ears, but is a heck of a powerful album to mine. ;D As for live albums, the triple set Different Stages is highly recommended, that's what my Rush crush really started with.

np> Savatage - [Edge Of Thorns (1993) #01] Edge Of Thorns (5:57)

I just spent about an hour on the phone with my best man, a thing we do far to seldomly nowadays. Afterwards, I was thinking back to the times when he picked me up in the mornings when we went to studies together. This track perfectly reminds me of us two sitting in his "Opel Manta", rocking and moshing away. Kind of :)

my best man

My guess is that you mean "my best friend," or "my once best friend," Cap  ???

A "best man" is "the chief attendant of the bridegroom at a wedding." - Dictionary.com

Both best friends and best men can have Opel Mantas  ;D

And in fact a "best friend" will often be chosen as "best man"  :)

Now if it's the bridegroom who has the Opel Manta .....  :P
