Yes, it's rather reminiscent of Asia.   ;D

You guys are sooooooo funny  :P

NP  Metallica:  Master Of Puppets

Realised I had to get more into this group. Missed the excitement in the 80's and early 90's while I was into New Age stuff.

Hm, Kirk plays a mean guitar that still kicks ass, but else it sounds pretty outdated. There are hundreds of metal groups that have taken off from Metallica & Co. and do more exciting stuff today imo. And apart from the very interesting experiment with St. Anger, they don't seem all that prog any longer, or ?  ;)

No, the UFO didn't land on Eden, quite the contrary :P But yes, those guys were so furious fighting and partying that they could have brought rage even in Eden. And, ho, the UFO is still flying as far as I know  :)

Actually, joke aside, there is one common point between UFO and Ultravox : each band had an album produced by George "the fifth Beatle" Martin. Unfortunately, Sir George himself acknowledges that he shouldn't have worked with metal bands and I must say that in the case of UFO I do agree  :-X

NP Kansas - There's Know Place Like Home

Peter

Guns N' Roses -  - Patience (181.fm)
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Anekdoten is very pleasant to listen to.
Not the ordinary-day-prog though( in fact if I'm not mistaken it is post-rock ).

NP> Dream Theater ~ SFAM

I'd like Jönësÿ to return, but I aint gonna go so far as to play non-stop H'ache-Marillion  ::)

- except to romaaanticise with Ms 007 (who digs'm - guess that with women H's voice goes directly in .....)  :-*

JP  Ride The Lightning  &  Master Of Puppets

Hm, was pretty hard getting thru these. Felt I had to do it, cause Metallica is a band to be taken serious  *horns*

NP  ... And Justice For All  (on repeat)

This one I'm really enjoyin. Probably partly cause it is so much better musically iac then its precursors, and partly cause I got more into Metallica-mode.

"When a man lies he murders
Some part of the World
These are the pale deaths which
Men miscall their lives
All this I cannot bear
To witness any longer
Cannot the Kingdom of Salvation
Take me home"

Metallica - To Live Is to Die

Wiki (To Live Is to Die):  "To Live Is To Die contains a few spoken lyrics near the end of the song, coming in at 7:35, that were written by German poet Paul Gerhardt and popularized in the 1981 film Excalibur. The song was written as a tribute to the band's bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed in a bus accident in 1986. The music consists of riffs Burton had written that had not been incorporated into songs prior to his death. The song title is a phrase that Burton was fond of."

Couldnt find the original text in German.

Yesterday was a quaint colonial holiday called "Thanksgiving" in which we all get together with family and eat way way too much turkey and other assorted foods, most of them more Nicky-safe than the aforementioned bird.  I went to my mom's place and am feeling suitably stuffed.

Road Trip Playlist:

Phideaux - Chupacabras
Anathema - A Natural Disaster
local AM radio to check whether or not I would be very sorry if I went via the George Washington Bridge to get home - happily, I wasn't.

NP: Bruford - One of a Kind

I think I need to face facts.  What I've got here is not prog rock -- it's jazz.   :-\
