NP> Transatlantic ~ The Whirlwind

Stunning!
Recognisable but stunning nevertheless.

Again. Still.
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Played:

Between The Buried And Me:  Colors

Surprised me. Excellent !  Lotta crossover here:  Metal, metalcore, jazz, growl, folk, classic, and all convincingly. Keeps changin. How much logic there is to it, I don't know yet. Certainly a repeat-album  8)

Venom:  Kissing The Beast

A compilation. Also many influences here: thrash, black, punk, and sufficiently varied to hold my attention  8)

John, this would be your field ?  :)

And of course:

Judas Priest:  Nostradamus  *horns*

Before: Phideaux - The Great Leap    Not the equal of Doomsday Afternoon but still good stuff.

NP: Porcupine Tree - The Incident

iTunes tells me I've played this one a lot.   8)

Joe Lynn Turner

Is this one'o'm goats, Deenie ?  ;D

Played:

Arena:  Lion's Cage  &  Pride

The music's nice here and there, but admittedly, Arena took the big leap musically with The Visitor  *horns*

However, the lyrics already here challenge me fully. The many references to myth and history tells me that Clive and Mick have been all over the place, but then they'r put together in a very unusual way.

Gotto do these two albums a few more times now I'm into it.

John Carson reminds me a bit of Fish (JC must be Scottish or at least Northern English). He's excellent, but I must say that Rob goes much deeper with me  *horns*

At the time we found it quite amusing.  Then again, we were at that age where Benny Hill was amusing.

NP: Jethro Tull - Songs From the Wood

These guys need more Room exposure.  They're among the greats of prog.   *horns*

Hum, I tend to disagree but watching my mum watch Benny Hill and laugh to tears was rather funny ... and a bit disturbing too  :-X

Indeed. Does everyone know the anecdote about them winning a heavy metal award ?  :)

Played:

Arena:  The Visitor  (on repeat)

Ye guys ever heard of this band ?  ;D

The Visitor is really a masterpiece. What a big leap from Pride. Guess John Mitchell brought a lotta excitement to the band  *horns*

Keith More was fine, but John certainly was an improvement.

Paul Wrightson is also great on The Visitor  8)

Interesting interview with John Carson:  http://www.progvisions.i12.com/interviews_uk/jc_uk.htm

Iced Earth:  The Glorious Burden

Another masterpiece  *horns*

About major moments in the formation of the USA, particularly the American Civil War, to which is devoted an epos in three parts.

The music is vintage IE, and Ripper sings his heart out.

When The Eagle Cries, about 9/11, really moved me deeply.

Shadow Gallery - Digital ghosts :o

First song, "With honor" (man, it hurts spelling that without a 'u') sounds remarkably SG-ish. New singer... ok, so far. First association is someone I dig and respect, but as a singer I want the new (or any) SG singer to remind me of... Tobias Sammet probably isn't the most desirable.

I am now a few minutes into the song. Probably reachine the end of it soon. And I'm not convinced. A am, though, a bit worried.

Playing it too right now, played it more than ten times, it'll grown on you, I'm sure  *horns* 8)

Earlier today: Pendragon - Pure

I guess I should give Shadow Gallery a listen.  I've never heard them.   :-[

I've wanted to give Pure a try, but so far I can't find it anywhere for anywhere close to a normal CD price, and there doesn't seem to be a download purchase option.   :-\

Before: Phideaux - Chupacabras

NP: Phideaux - Number Seven

Yes, at least half of what I play lately is Phideaux.  It's that good.

Manatee, if you like prog-metal then Shadow Gallery is simply a must-have.

Not that technical as DT but more song-based.
Very enjoyable to say the least!
