JP  Into Eternity:  Buried In Oblivion

Exciting band from Regina SK. Remind me most of Scar Symmetry, but less growly and heavy. Like SS, wonderful vocal harmonies, and excellent musicianship. Could easily become a Room fave  ;)

I've been to Regina.  There's not a lot to do besides be a great band, so they may indeed be good.   ;D

NP  3:  The End Is Begun

Super  *horns*

Greenie, you should try this band  ;)

I see they're from Woodstock.  Obviously a bunch of hippies.  Then again I rather like hippies.   ;)

While Europe Slept: Porcupine Tree - The Incident
Still Snoozing: Riverside - Anno Domini High Definition

Both best of 2009 candidates IMO.   *horns*

NP: Pixies - Doolittle
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Teunis

Steve Thorne - Into The Ether

Not exactly prog, but very pleasant  ;)
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Bit too young to be real hippies. But they'r very imaginitive, and if that's your understanding of hippies, Greenie, then I also like hippies  ;D

Bought that album on a young friend's recom. Played it a few times and gave it away. Not my taste  :(

Europe:  The Final Countdown

+ a few other songs from a greatest hits album, and read the cover notes about their history. Don't worry guys:  This is as much as I wanna know about Europe.

Now, I do worry. There is, after all, so much more to know. After all, we're talking about the band with Joey Tempest in it. You know, the song writer only parallelled or surpassed by Björn & Benny (ABBA), Andi Deris, and Simon & Garfunkel.

You forgot Britney, Céline, and Heintje, Deenie  :P

OK, Simon & Garfunkel  *horns*

It does indeed, but I suspect the natives get tired of the joke rather early in their lives.  That really is how they pronounce it though.   :o

The above re: Pixies - Doolittle:  Other than 'Here Comes Your Man' and 'Monkey Gone to Heaven', it took me time to appreciate this also, but now I like it a lot.   Still, you may never like it much -- at least it's in a direction you don't seem to go for often.  Not prog but not standard either.

NP: Steve Hackett - Genesis Revisited
"What is that sound?  It's confusing, and boy is it loud!"

Iggy

NP Zero Order Phase - Jeff Loomis

Manatee

NP: Cardiacs (on MySpace)

I got curious too.  Sounds pretty nifty so far.   *horns*

NP: Opeth - Watershed

A few grunts but mostly contains actual singing -- and good enough to put up with the occasional grunt.   *horns*

Metallica - [Garage Inc. CD1 (1998)]  #04 - Turn The Page  *horns*

Kind of a good choice for my current moods in the evenings after coming home...

I was long wondering who would be the first to take up my lead on this one. Iggy, you certainly were one of the candidates, as you grant me some credibility, but I also had others in mind who have a predilection for progmetal guitar (ad)ventures.

Now that I'v given my opinion on it on several occasions, I'm very curious to hear what you think of it, Iggy. But give it some runs first; there's so much power in it that it takes some time to start sinkin in.

But I'm sure you'l enjoy it. Awesome, I say !

I found it on Spotify so had to give it a go. You know me Nicky it may take a while but I'll get there in the end. After one listen I can confirm that he knows how to play a guitar.  ;D
