You like'm, Funkster ?

Candlemass - Nightfall

Hope to get that one soon.

Can't say I'm a big Candlemass fan, but they do have a very special style that I enjoy listening to occasionally  8)

Might try and get hold of some Nevermore due to the high regard they are held in here

Actually I think it's only Jonesy and I who hold'm in high regard. Dunno about Iggy; as far as I remember, he also has Endeavor  ;)

I'm actually in SyX mood currrently. I'm alternating between

SyX:  The Divine Wings of Tragedy  (1997)

and

SyX:  Twilight in Olympus  (1998)

Both super  *horns*

SyX are imo one of the top 5 of progmetal  8)

Very melodic, very symphonic, very metal, interesting, exciting, exhilarating; simply and plainly:  *horns* *horns* *horns*

I think they could gain much more currency in the Room  ;)

The Nevermore and Symphony X are both good but i am sure with a few more listens they will be amazing

Also hoping to get some Pagan's Mind as i like what i have seen on Youtube

Listened to Skeletonwitch earlier which is riff heavy but not too fussed on the vocals maybe a grower ?

At the moment the prog/symphonic/power metal style is ringing my bell so another other suggestions would be great

They make great music, but I'm bothered by the singer  :-\

I'l play'm this evening and see if I can adapt better. Worked out with Jamie from DT  ;)

Whadaya think about DT, Funkster, a Room fave (even Greenie is greening, with a little "help" (or pressure) from his friends)  ;D ;)

That's actually also my fave genre  8)

You can take a peek at my prog pantheon, Funkster, got several fine progmetal bands there.

You could also consider trying out my "fave album currently":  Jeff Loomis'  Zero Order Phase  (the guitarist of Nevermore) - simply spellbinding  *horns*

Mark Arrington on drums is amazing too  8)

Never thought that an instrumental album could top everything else (remember that I consider myself a philosopher  :-[  ;D ) ..... but the world is full'o surprises, aint it ?  ;)

And I can assure you that none of my pantheon groups are in conflict with our great faith  ;)

Snowfall on Judgement DAy - Redemption

Haven't heard them before but after hearing good things from 007 (about redemption), Teunis and Mr Mad (about the CD) thought I would give it a shot.

Like what I hear so far.

NP: Transatlantic - The Whirlwind

My new-found energy seems to have drained away.  May have to drink more coffee.   :o

Wow, The Whirlwind (main disc) taken as one piece is very long, but it's got some stellar moments.  Check out the end of "Is It Really Happening?" (I assume many of you already have).

01. The Outfield - [Voices Of Babylon #01] Voices Of Babylon

Was scrolling through my CD collection... stumbled over this one and thought I might give it a spin, as I simply couldn't remember what this band was about, but must have been something, back when I bought it....

First track: music history... might be due to my subconscious connecting it to some sort of ... em... teenage escapade... or so....
rest of the album: sheesh.... makes me think of "very much inspired by Yes' 90125 or the likes... reminds me of something I already heard, good production, but hey... 80s..."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Outfield

PS: Tony, if you read this, please don't be mad at me... I truly highly respect (mostly) any kind of music making, and being unfair music critics is one of the things we "Proggers" tend to have as one of our main diseases... *runs*
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

Is it any good ?

I gave the album only a couple of spins so far, but I think it's pretty solid. The overall sound is very dark and moody, as can be expected from Katatonia. If you like the previous album 'The Great Cold Distance' I think you are gonna like the new album as well.

Some rather arcane groups you'v been listenin to, Cap (at least in the Room). I'l keep'm in mind.

The Who's Eminence Front I don't know either, but admittedly I have hardly heard anything of what they released after Who's Next (this one and Tommy I listened to massively).

U2's Rattle and Hum is of course a classic  *horns*

And Drugstore Fanatics now a Room fave  8)

Mad, could you get Cap a big beer ?  That might keep him in the Room for a while  ;)
