I believe he took'm off  ;D

One would have to assume he did, although Liv-creationwise, Steven had already gotten the job done.

Btw, Greenie, I noted that you gave him a  *horns*  Specifically, what can you (or anyone else) recommend to us Roomies ?  ;)

Todd Rundgren is a decidedly odd duck.  His music (with and without Utopia, which I believe was always pretty much his band to direct) runs the gamut from mellow James Taylor-like stuff to full-on complex prog.  To be honest, I know him in bits and pieces more than I know many complete albums -- I'm sure Steve can fill in some gaps here.  His solo album Something/Anything? is quite nice but on the JT end of things and probably not the one you want.  I particularly like "Overture: Mountaintop and Sunrise/Communion with the Sun" from the album RA.  It's definitely very proggy, and as I recall, Steve is a fan of "Singring and the Glass Guitar" from the same album.  I can't give you a review of the album as a whole since I don't think I've actually heard it all the way through, but it definitely ain't the Backstreet Boys.  In CD-form, I currently just have a Utopia compilation album, which honestly might not be a bad idea with them since they have flashes of brilliance but are certainly inconsistent.  Like my man, Neil Young, they (Todd and Utopia) have plenty of bright spots, but not every song's a gem.  Before Utopia, Todd was also in a relatively short-lived band called The Nazz, which I believe I have an LP by somewhere or other.

NP: Marillion - Marbles

Now I *am* dumb enough to stay up through a whole double album, although I could've used some more sleep.

I'm not going back all these pages to see what you guys listened to in my two weeks of absence, but I trust you have listened to some good music.

Me either. I was even allowed to play a few discs in the car, which (at least I think) was nice.
Later on I relied on my MP3 player, because some people just can't stop complaining.
Somehow I always like it to play my favourite music to other people. In a way it's more satisfying, but sometimes you just have to stop.

Now:
Blade Runner (what else), third disc.

Yes indeed, I love that album and Singring in particular.  I can't really comment in depth on Todd as he's done so much and I've got less than a dozen albums including vinyl.  What I can say, however, is that of the stuff I've heard I personally find his solo projects variable but Utopia consistently excellent.  Sound quality of albums can be lacking, if that's something that bothers you.

Riverside - ADHD

I've played this to death since I had it, and can safely say I think it's excellent.  Not quite up there with 'Second Life Syndrome' and 'Rapid Eye Movement' for me, though, as I thought those two were all-time classics.  Weighing in at a tad under 45 minutes, it almost seems as if the interesting FX and twiddly bits have been stripped out of ADHD to improve sales in New York ;) ;D

NP Emerson, Lake & Palmer - The Ultimate Collection

Just got this one, after due consideration (see also this earlier thread) I decided I don't like ELP enough to get the separate key albums, but do like them enough and consider them essential enough to get a nice compilation. So, now I have 24 tracks for EUR 7,99 including a booklet with nice sleeve notes too.

They do make it annoyingly hard to buy their music.  I really wanted to get Tick-Tock and Night on actual CDs, but I finally had to settle for Amazon downloads.
Actually, for Tick Tock they've got a deal with Sony and I purchased my copy in the Mediamarkt chain store. The other albums I've bought at the gigs, easiest way, but they have to play in your area of course.

Well, if you happen to run into them at a gig, tell them that if they come to the New York area, they'll have at least one customer for all their CDs.    ;D

NP: Neverland.  Due to various things going on, it's taken me half the day to play through all of Marbles.

Well, was it worth it?

The day sucked, but yes, Marbles was a bright spot.  It's going to need several more plays, but I'm getting a good feeling about the album.  Steve, you spake the truth, Ocean Cloud is splendid.

NP: Dream Theater - The Count of Tuscany (just the one song only via YouTube again)

Ok, Nicky, you should be pleased, I've played it more than the three times you specified because I genuinely like it.  Agreeing with you and Steve at the same time.  Argh!   I'm beginning to look like a soft touch.  Someone recommend something that I hate, so I can give a scathing response.   ;D
