NP Eponymous - R.E.M.  see nicky i do listen

Yeah, I know, Iggy, you're one of the most adventurous Roomies  8)

+ merely being a longterm Yes-fan garners a lot of respect in my book  :)

NP  Dire Straits:  Making Movies

Yeah, I know, not really adventurous, but I realised that I had only listened to their debut album properly in the olden days. Now I'v decided to catch up on the other albums, probably not spending too much time with Brothers and Street. Fortunately Ms 007 has a remastered cd of Movies (and she was kind enuff to lend it to me / didnt complain when I took it)  ;D

Tunnel Of Love (on Movies) is a killer song - added to my SO-list  *horns*

NP  Dire Straits:  Making Movies

I always felt Making Movies was their best album.  I particularly liked 'Romeo and Juliet'.

NP: Devin Townsend Project - Ki

I really had no choice in this selection since it started playing in my head before I even got out of bed.   ;)

Thanks for tippin, Bups  :)

As far as I can determine, this was as wild as Steve Rothery ever got. Great playing !!! Just like John Mitchell, you hear clearly that they'r pupils of Dave Gilmour, but both definitely with their own personal style.

And Fish's singing is shattering. That's for me a true rock singer  8)

Come on guys, rock's about gripping us, shakin us up, changing the world, aint it ?

I'v decided not to be sad that Fish and the other guys split. Instead I'm elated that we have four terrific albums that can be enjoyed again and again  *horns*

I prefer Telegraph road and Private Investigations as my must have Dire Straits songs.

i always thought that Side 1 of Love of Gold coupled with Side 1 of Making Movies would have been a killer album

Heard a MySpace preview of this album, sounding great. Not strange with such people on board  ;)

NP: Magenta - Metamorphosis

I think I like this.  It's sort of modern prog with a Renaissance flavor.

Indeed, I'm very partial to a bit of Magenta, even if Metamorphosis isn't quite one of my favourites.  If you're looking for further recommendations, my personal preference is for the 'Another Time Another Place' live album - awesome 8)

Thanks for the tip. Sadly, it appears that Metamorphosis is their only album that can currently be had at less than collector's item prices.  I'll be on the lookout for MP3 downloads, re-releases, or random occurrences of reasonably priced ones.  I guess with these albums that only get bought by the serious prog community, you have to buy them when they come out.  I think I'm going to make this pre-ordering thing a regular habit.

The live one is still easily available over here, surely there must be somewhere in Obamaland selling them at normal prices? :o
