That one you guys put out about George W Bush actually being the president was a classic.  There are still some folk over here who believe it! ;)

Apparently the Supreme Court believed it too.  Other entertaining moments in politics here include professional wrestler Jesse "The Body" Ventura being elected governor of Minnesota, and of course, it is well known that the Terminator is currently governor of California.  Around here our governors are more traditional and stick to the old standards like getting caught sleeping with various people they shouldn't be sleeping with and debating the best way to embezzle public funds.

What Iggy said.  ;)

It's a 2CD with a few Demo's and a solo spot for Joe ( the drummer ) and as the cherry on the cake: Floydian Memories.
Which is one heck of a tribute to Pink Floyd.  *horns* *horns* *horns*

Iggy.
I am a keys player and Wakeman has been my mentor since the 70's. I have one full shelf for his stuff, 48 cds in total. Some are awesome, some not too hot. Well you know his history. Criminal Record is great

Yep I was so happy when I found that CD it seemed to take forever to be released.

I only have 27 of his releases.

You can either punch "Quote", upper right of an existing post, and then edit between "
"  and "
"; and /or you can start a clean post by punching "Reply" at the bottom of your page, and then "Insert Quote" below the posting window.

Usually when we include two or more quotes from the same post, we remove the stuff after "quote" (e.g. by highlighting and punching "delete").

Keep on posting your good stuff, Aswas  ;)

NP  (no news, guys)  DT:  Scenes  (nth run)   ;D *horns*

How can these guys be so good (and Greenie so ! better stop) ?  It's beyond me  :)

If anyone thinks s/he can exhaust a DT-album with ten runs, he's either dumb, or a genius (like Paxi thinks he is)  ;D

Yes man, that album is one of the best albums in prog/metal history! And the start of a whole new Dream Theater! *horns*

??? Of course I'm a genius, but I don't get what you mean here. Nicky is a man of mysteries.
But let's assume it is a (sneaky) reply to my post two pages back.
I also discover new things with every run in Dream Theater's music. So you cannot exhaust a DT-album. Although, you can be exhausted by it! ;D

My point was, that it's not too hard to get into a new Dream Theater album once you're already known with it. The music isn't complex (it is just a lot of musical 'wankery', shall we call it that?), they know how to use their instruments, yes, but complex? No. I don't think so.
It's this musical wankery and sometimes lack of a more emotional approach in their music that's putting people off. I can understand that, and Dream Theater isn't for these people.
I like it though. There are lots of more emotional bands. And there are lots of more complex and more progressive bands. But I like Dream Theater for what they're good at: musical wankery and a bunch of sturdy guitar riffs! ;D

Phew... does this make me a complex person? :D

See, that's where I disagree. As a musician myself, I make an effort to follow the guys in their complex passages. I find'm ingenious, stuff that's way beyond my abilities. Sometimes I can't even catch fully what Petrucci and Jordan are doing on their instruments  *horns*

Obviously DT are for advanced proggies - and we have to live with non-proggies calling DT-music "wanking", "noodling" and stuff.

What's great about DT is that they satisfy my entire range of (musical) needs; they're at times emotional, at other times complex, philosophical, playful, humorous, whatever  *horns*

What I don't understand is why proggies who grasp DT don't expand to Tool and Nevermore  ???

It requires pretty much the same effort (unless, like Paxi, one's born with a DT-spoon in ones mouth)  ;D

But Paxi, keep your wanking for other occasions  :D

Some excellent observations there, Bups. Shows you know quite a lot about rock.

However, you seem to be missing something in the heavier areas. Maybe time has come for venturing there. I'd suggest Nevermore, Tool, Opeth, Circus Maximus, Iced Earth, Down. These are brilliant bands - all in my pantheon  *horns*

I received a severe Megadeth treatment those last weeks, thanks  *horns*

Hum, sorry Nicky, but I don't think that with this one I am going in the direction you suggested ... even if Subway Song has a very heavy ending  :)

I'm too boggled and apparently stupid to reply to the wealth of noodling about Dream Theater, so I'll just abstain.  I do think Nicky should be nicer to my friend Paco though.   ;D

NP  DT:  I&W

DT are due a bunch of superlatives, one of them, I realised, that they seem to be one of the most chameleon-like bands:  I long thought that Awake was a better album than I&W, but when I played Awake earlier during the day, it didnt grip me all that much, while I&W got me groovin bigtime  *horns*

I know that you would answer that, Nicky, but I will answer to the answer : go and listen to Rust In Peace, especially Holy Wars, Hangar 18 and Tornado Of Souls. Then go and listen to TCOT on BC&SL (when you can get it) and especially to the passage where James sings "Get Into My Car ..."
