That should have been "Happiness Is The Road".
Apart from that minor mistake, I think you made a great post, with lots of worthy information!

Oops! :D That was the name of the tour of said album of course!

The Empress has left for the Eastern frontiers for a couple of days ... so it's a prog day at the castle  *horns*

JP Derek Sherinian - Utopia Heavy instrumental jazz-rock that needs time to get tamed but is worth the investment
JP Glass Hammer - Shadowlands 100% symphonic prog blended with all sorts of keyboards and multiple vocals (the latter being rather unimpressive). Reminds me of early Spock's Beard. I think PH would like it.
JP Epica - We Will Take You With Us bonus CD  Finally, I am happy I didn't sell it since I am liking it more and more (despite the fact that the Empress called me on the phone while I was playing it and asked if somebody was being slaughtered in the house  :P)
NP Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood I hadn't played it for so long ! A welcome return  :)

More to come, I hope  *horns*

NP Circus - Circus, (copy of) 1992 EP - Jacko [The Clown]

A fairly obscure earlier outing of Paul Wrightson, firmly rooted in '80s heavy metal. Their only release I believe. Nothing groundbreaking here, but cool track nevertheless. The other members are: Sean Clark (Guitars), Paul Henshaw (Keys), Mark Powell (Drums), Alex Rigby (Bass).

To stick with theme of obscure releases by former Arena vocalists I will play John Carson's Hypermania - Down To Birth (1999) next. To read more about this one see the DPRP review.

Sorry, I missed this first time around as it was half way up the previous page! :-[

What I was getting at was the original bumf on SW's site said there were some tracks on the original very-limited-edition-with-book that wouldn't be on these later, retail releases.  Whether it turned out that way in the end I don't know, but that's why I didn't buy it.  As a rule I don't tend to go for cut-down versions - too much in the way of other product to spend my cash on 8)

Just: Placebo - Sleeping With Ghosts

Are you sure about W&I? Or did you mean I&W, since the album's called Images & Words?

Smartass-mode off! :P

Yeah, Tom & Bups, or rather Bups & Tom, guess I was a bit careless there. But it's also cause in my logic, words come before images  ???

I consider that DT should'v consulted me re their proposals for titles beforehand, what a cheek they had  ;D

... somebody was being slaughtered in the house  :P

Is that what you're up to when lady is away, Bups ?  ;D

Last played U2's Joshua Tree. Nice music from the time when they were prog, very empathetic and thoughtful. There are even a coupl'o passages where Bono expresses real passion  8)

Lady and I played it on the way to a family do:  Nephew finished education, brother (in law) turned 60, sister (i.l) 59, another nephew moved into a flat with his new gf, so there was a lot to celebrate. My sister i.l. made some great veggie food, and the beverages were top too.

So now we had breakfast, and I just snatched a chance to check up on you guys, all your mischief  ;D

Presently I'l be drivin home with my Ms Chief  :D

Just played Yes' Talk drivin back to Malmö. Great album! Trevor Rabin changed Yes' sound quite a bit. Howe-Yes and Rabin-Yes were almost two different groups. Of course, Rick Wakeman's presence/absence also made a big difference. Guess Yes was somethin of a chameleon - or should we say: progressive  ;D

Iggy, you bein a big Yes-fan, what's your opinion on Rabin and Rabin-Yes ?

NP  Queen + Paul Rodgers:  The Cosmos Rocks

First track was a bit anonymous, bluesy, but Track 2, Time To Shine, really does shine, and Paul sings very convincingly  *horns*

Let's see. Anyone else into Queen + PR ?

My brother is in Australia so every time he comes over I send him back with CD's from bands I have discovered between trips. I think his wife despairs.

;D Iggy.

If she's a kangaroo (admit I had to look up the spelling) she probably won't like Crocodile Rock  :D

When we were teens, my 1 1/2 year older brother was usually the one who introduced the good stuff, first Cream, then Floyd and Zep. These groups changed my life totally. Then he was hot on Hawkwind, which I couldnt get.

Now for a coupl'o decades he hasnt had the energy (with family, job & house) to listen to anything challenging, so he's into rather loungy (read: calm and unprog) stuff  :(

I'v tried my best, as with several other family members and friends, but only unpleasantnesss results ... so that's why I'm so happy about having you guys around  *horns*

How are your families ?

Nicky.

I am fairly convinced he allowed Yes to continue on their merry trip.

I am not a huge fan of 90125 but really like Big Generator and Talk which has some fantastic songs on it. The great news at the time was that ABWH also existed and I do consider that to be a Yes album as well.

NP  Coverdale - Page:  Self-titled  (on repeat)

Agree very much with cd-heaven's (ROCK CITY) Amazon review, WHITE-ZEPPELIN, December 28, 1999:

"The collaboration of Led-Zepster Jimmy Page and Whitesnake voice David Coverdale was a good idea. The album resulted in terrific songs both lyrically and musically, for both artists. Page hasn't played that kind of guitar since Led Zep's House album and Coverdale's voice has never sounded better (he can't help it sounding like Plant). The lyrics are strong and deep, and the music is powerful. Rockers such as Shake My Tree, Waiting On You, Pride and Joy, and Feeling Hot offer a fresh blast of Page's guitar, who still can rock. On the lighter side, this album offers up some incredible slow-bluesier rockers such as Take Me For A Little While and Over Now, both of which are fantastic. Other great songs include Take A Look at Yourself and Absolution Blues. All-in-all this album is a classic, it's overlooked by some fans of both Coverdale and Page, and was ripped apart by alot of critics. Actually this is some of the best the two have ever done, and with every listen it gets better and better, and you wish these two guys could have done more together."

However, I don't find the lyrics that interesting. But then again, Percy's lyrics in his Zep days didnt either catch my attention much.

Guys, this is a terrific album and it does get better with every listen. This is G-E-N-I-U-S  *horns*

Strangely, official Amazon Jeff Bateman writes, "Time may judge this the worst kind of Led Zep mimicry, but on first listen it generates real excitement. Never mind that Coverdale is a third-rate Robert Plant (particularly as a lyricist). It's enough that the drums do the Stegosaurus stomp, and Page is more in touch with his muse than at any time since Physical Graffiti. Shake My Tree is the standout."

What the f*'s with these paid reviewers ?  Among other things, Shake My Tree is the most boring song on the album (imo). Probably the guy only heard the album once  :(
