One of the finest titles for an album ever, methinks.  Also a corkingly good listen *horns*

Re: Marbles.  Thanks for the input guys.  No shock there.  I'll just have to get used to the idea of ordering overseas from a website that describes money in terms of those odd cursive L's, which as I understand it, is actually worth more than real money.   :o

Our beloved leaders would have us believe that this state of affairs somehow benefits our economy.  Perhaps beloved leaders everywhere need to stop effing up the world and start listening to more prog.

On the contrary, if there was to be two omnisciences, Ziltoid would be both.

Now that we've found our Marbles, my next quandary is trying to figure out what Insurgentes is like.  My first instinct is to just get it since it's Steven Wilson, but I am wary of the fact that he likes to experiment A LOT, including forays into things like ambient, which I don't generally care for unless I'm about to fall asleep anyway.  Reviews that I've read have been all over the map.  Guidance, anyone?

Can't help you there.  As Mr Wilson seems increasingly unwilling to cater for those who want all of the music and none of the books/timeshare/fanclub flotsam and jetsam we didn't do business ;)

Perhaps you should send him 53 T-Rex albums.  I'm not sure he'd glean any real meaning from that, but I'll bet it would get his attention.   ;D

It's my favorite sort of plan: bizarre, random, confusing, pointless, and utterly futile.   8)

NP  Zep:  Physical Graffiti  (on repeat)

I'm thoroughly enjoying it. It's like goin back some thirty years and pickin up - on Zep and the spirit of the times. And on top of it: It's fabulous music  *horns*

Those were the days when big was equal to best  8)

Today that's almost reversed  :'(

Nowadays people would rather save up for an extra car than get some decent cd's  :(

Strange, first time around (lately) there were several songs on Disc 2 that I couldnt even recognise  :o

Yeah, that's also my experience with SW. He's very expansive, to put it in a nice way. But here and there you find the most sparkling gems. Lazarus is together with songs like Midnight Shadow and Summer In The City at the absolute top of my alltime fave song list (and see my signature).

So I'v decided to get all SW stuff (and take turns sleepin and headbangin)  ;D

Just: ZZ Top - XXX
Now: Styx - Equinox

The latter is one of my two favourite Styx albums, the other being Paradise Theater.  Given that it looks like a 'rain stopped play' scenario here with regard to my weekend's gardening plans, I wouldn't be at all suprised if Paradise Theater gets a spin later on.  Mind you, I'd probably have played it in the garden anyway.  That's what iPods are for.  So I guess you can ignore this paragraph ;)

Interesting, I only have Pieces Of Eight, which I like very much. Guess I better soon get some more Styx albums .....

The Beatles - White album

Couldn't resist it after reading about The Beatles in Nicky's profile which it has to be said is a weird place for a Beatles discussion

NP: Marillion - Afraid of Sunlight

At this point, I like this one very much.  I'm pondering my next purchase, but care is necessary since I have not reached fanatic status for h-Marillion yet.  Plus I have heard some songs of theirs on Pandora that I frankly thought were kinda lousy.  From what I've heard and read, Marbles might be a good choice, yes?  (assuming that "get them all, dumbass" isn't a valid response)

NP: Marillion - Crash Course

I quite like the first two songs, both of which are from the newest album(s), I think.  Of the others, one is on the album I already have (see above), and the rest haven't really grabbed me yet.

Good you're convinced already about Marbles! The 2-disc version is indeed the one to go for. Afraid Of Sunlight is also still amongst my faves. Other H albums to try would be Brave, Happiness On The Road (which is available in shops as two 1 seperate cd's with all tracks and also or will also be available as a 2-disc, so no need to go to Racket for this one ;) ) and Seasons End. Which version of the Crash Course compilation do you have? Assuming it's the last edition:

Whatever is Wrong With You = Happiness On The Road disc 2
This Train is My Life = Happiness On The Road disc 1 and one of my all time fave tracks
Somewhere Else = Somewhere Else, one of the best tracks on that album, the album though good overall is not the best place to start
Neverland = Marbles disc 2 and one of my all time fave tracks
Fantastic Place  = Marbles disc 1 and one of my all time fave tracks
Estonia = This Strange Engine, a good but unbalanced album and not the best place to start. This is a track I find a bit dragging, the title track, Man of A Thousand Faces, One Fine Day and Accidental Man are much better. Hope For The Future should not have been relesead/recorded :-\
Afraid of Sunlight
The Great Escape = Brave and my all time fave track

Re: Zep, that's still a big hiatus in my collection that needs filling, only have "Remasters"..
Re: Styx, another hole, like what I've heard of them (Suite Madam Blue, Best Of Times, Crystal Ball) and thinking about getting the "Gold" compilation which I read is pretty decent. Now you can start to persuade me to get the separate albums instead ;D

Not all that weird really -- Nicky seems to be the chief Beatles fanatic in the Room.

I have a deep, deep respect for the Beatles. I regard Beatles, Floyd, Zep, Metallica, and Dream Theater as the five most influential rock groups of all time, and Beatles probably most of all  *horns*

OK, for newbies it may be a bit difficult to navigate around in the Room, but at least there's a friendly atmosphere here, in contrast to many other "old" music chat forums (worst of all, the Neverboard  ::) )

That should have been "Happiness Is The Road".
Apart from that minor mistake, I think you made a great post, with lots of worthy information!
