Funny that there was a discussion about Marillion this morning in this thread since, while not connected, I had a Marillion morning at home, playing a few discs of the remastered 2 CD's collection.

Those 2 CD's are really a must-have for everybody interested in the band, not only for the extra-music but also for the stirring liner notes, even if I presume that some of them can be found on the band's website. Steve mentioned The Collection and it's a good example of both very interesting music and story  :)

I already had CAS and HIE 2 CD's versions and recently got MC and SE. Those four albums represent to me the band at his best, altogether mature and incredibly creative. I know many fans rave about Brave that came right after HIE but we already had a discussion about it ...

NP Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction  Another story but interesting too  :)

NP Marillion - Brave  I need some rest because Countdown To Extinction is harder to digest than Youthanasia at first listen  :P

Weezer - The Green Album

I never noticed before, but 'Hash Pipe' has a touch of The Darkness to the vocals 8)

The Sugarcubes - It's-It

Edit: One of the few records I've ever bought that I'd describe as 'bl**dy awful'.  It's not The Sugarcubes proper, but an album of fairly dumb and repetitive dance mixes.  Not a genre I'm particularly fond of at the best of times, and this one is anything but the best of times! :(

Boxer – Below The Belt

I'm having a bit of a nostalgia trip at the moment, unearthing some of the rarely played bands from my collection that bring back good gig memories from the 1970s.

Boxer were a typical 1970s rock band that I was quite interested in at the time.  Although not a household name, Boxer weren't exactly obscure in that, if you followed rock music and knew your line-ups, they contained a number of known names from previous bands.  They also achieved a reasonable amount of notoriety at the time for the somewhat risqué cover of 'Below the Belt'.  Mike Patto's vocals remind me of Bon Scott in one or two places.

1970s concert goers might remember the Crawler-Boxer-Moon tour where you got three bands for your money, plus a free EP featuring a track from each – still got mine somewhere.  Moon weren't quite my cup of tea but Crawler were superb so it was a great gig for me.

Boxer recorded three albums in total, two of which I've got on CD while the other (typically my favourite) still languishes in the vinyl pile.

Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boxer_(band) gives a brief potted history and also shows the infamous cover art.  Curiously it refers to the uncensored version as rare, which is not how I remember it.  Perhaps that's just because I had the original, as did most of my mates...

Crawler - Pastime Dreamer Live.

Another 1970s nostalgia trip.  Paul Kossoff left Free and formed Back Street Crawler who then became simply Crawler after Paul's death.  Awesome live band who recorded a mere two studio albums, both of which I've only got on vinyl.  B*gg*r!

No.  I'm aware of who you mean, but they'd gone by the time I started going to gigs and I've never heard any records.  Are they worth checking out in your opinion?

A good question. I haven't heard the album in ages and haven't invested in the CD yet. I remember playing it a lot but given that I was in my teens it may sound different to me now. I guess I'll have to buy it and let you know.

Always better to have fresh wind at your back than not-so-fresh wind headed in the opposite direction.

Good choice.  Make that a double.  NP: (see above)   *horns*

Yesterday I did a full car CD migration:

Returning to the mothership:

Weezer - "The Green Album"
IQ - Subterranea (both discs)
Arena - Pepper's Ghost (had been in my car CD player since about two days after it arrived)
Lacuna Coil - In a Reverie
Hüsker Dü - Warehouse: Songs and Stories

Going on a road trip:

Rewiring Genesis - The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway with a Trombone (both discs)
Devin Townsend - Terria (because everyone should hear a crazy Canadian yell "Eat your beets!" while crossing the George Washington Bridge)
R.E.M. - Reckoning
Midnight Oil - Diesel and Dust
George Thorogood - Maverick ("Gear Jammer" is a classic driving song)

The rewired Lamb is growing on me.  Sounds great in the car with the possible exception of the random noises parts on disc 2, but those were never my favorites on the original either.  I was considering bringing Afraid of Sunlight into the car, but I think it has too many quiet passages to respond well to road noise.
